A mask-frame assembly for a color cathode-ray tube comprising a first and second support members spaced out a predetermined distance; first and second resilient support members installed between the first and second support members supporting the first and second support members, each at the first and second resilient support members comprising supports fixed to the first and second support members and a connecting portion connecting the supports; a mask installed at the first and second support members such that tension is applied thereto, the mask comprising a plurality of electron beam through holes; and a compensating unit connected between the first and second support members or the supports of the resilient support members between each connecting portion and the mask, the compensating unit being formed of a material having a lower thermal expansion coefficient than the first and second resilient support members.

A tension mask frame assembly for a color CRT includes a tension mask having an effective area having a plurality of electron beam passing holes and an ineffective area disposed at an edge portion of the effective area, a frame including support members which support opposite side portions of the tension mask so that tension is applied to the tension mask and rigid members which support end portions of the support members to maintain a gap between support members, and at least one weight member installed by a fixing unit to be separated at a predetermined interval in the ineffective area of the tension mask in a lengthwise direction of the tension mask fixed at the frame.

Tension mask frame assembly for color CRT

A tension mask frame assembly for a color cathode-ray tube, the assembly including a tension mask and a frame, is provided. The tension mask has a plurality of strips isolated from each other at predetermined intervals on a thin plate to form slots, and tie bars for partitioning slots at a predetermined pitch interval by connecting adjacent strips to each other. The frame has a pair of support members for supporting the longer sides of the tension mask, a pair of elastic members, the ends of which are connected to both ends of each of the support members so that the support members are isolated from each other a predetermined distance, and a reinforcing member having both ends coupled to both ends of the exterior side surface of each of the support members and its center portion contacting with the exterior side surface of each of the support members, the reinforcing member for elastically restoring the support members in a direction where a tensile force is applied to the strips. In the tension mask frame assembly for a color cathode-ray tube having such a structure, deformation of the support members is reduced by the reinforcing member, so that a uniform tensile force is applied to the tension mask supported by the supporters.
