Sampling devices are used to obtain samples of fluids to be analyzed and to determine the composition of the fluid in the sampled environment. A sampling apparatus with an inflatable sample bag used to collect and store liquid, air, vapor, and or gas samples by drawing the sample into the bag through an inlet, a sorbent tube, cassette, and/or other collection media is described. The means for extracting the sample and moving it into the sample bag comprises means for expanding the volume of a sample bag and creating a vacuum or reduced pressure within the sample bag. The means for expanding the include separating walls of a sample bag by use of gravity, pneumatic pressure, a biasing force, hydraulic force, for example or increasing the volume of a sample bag retaining container by such forces. Such sampling apparatuses do not require use of a sampling pump.

Sampling device

Gas detector tubes may be used to determine a concentration of target gases in air. The gas detector tubes described may be read either by and optical reader or visually by the user. A gas detector tube reader having an optical reader capable of reading a length of stain, a color change and color density of a reagent in a gas detector tube. The gas detector tube may further comprise sensors for measuring the environmental conditions during sampling.

Sampling systems provide apparatuses for obtaining and assessing the composition of a fluid, typically air. Sampling systems allow industrial hygienists to assess the risks and determine the protective equipment that should be worn by personnel entering a specific environment. In one embodiment, a sampling system comprises a sampling container that draws air into its inner volume and the sampling periods are controlled by an automatic timer valve. The automatic timer valve may comprise a rotating disk or plate that provides fluid communication from the area to be sampled to the inner volume of the sample bag when apertures are aligned with inlet tube.

The disclosure is directed to sampling bags having flexible walls. The sampling bags may have agile walls that include a shape memory component. The shape memory component tends to return the sampling bag to its initial shape. Such sampling bags may be used in a variety of sampling methods.

The disclosure is directed to a device for fluid sampling. The device may have two panels that are or may be adhered, attached or otherwise connected to opposite sides of a sampling bag having flexible walls. The panels may be used for conveniently inflating or deflating the sampling bag and obtaining fluid samples.

Sample bags having at least one multilayer wall are described. The multilayer wall may include an inner layer and a sealing layer. The sealing layer is outside of the inner layer and forms a seam around at least a portion of the sample bag. In certain embodiments, the inner layer comprises a patterned periphery. The patterned periphery extends into the seam to provide the inner layer with a mechanical stability. The inner layer may be a thin metal foil or a plastic film and the sealing layer may include a sealing surface of a thermoplastic, wherein the thermoplastic of each sealing layer may be fused to form a seal around the periphery of the sampling bag. The sample bag thereby an inner layer with a low permeable, low adsorption layer coupled with a second layer providing an effective seal results in a sample bag with improved sample gas stability.

A method, system, and apparatus are provided for use with exposure protection systems or equipment such as respiratory protection devices. One system is provided for detecting a breach of an exposure protection device by an amount of a target substance. The system includes an exposure protection device that isolates a protected environment from an external environment potentially including a target substance. The device includes a protective covering that includes a substantially transparent window. The system also includes a detector or detector element for indicating the presence of the target substance. Such a detector is capable of producing a visually observable indication upon detection of the level of target substance.

A cold smoke generating device includes an air source that may include a hollow flexible collapsible container having an expandable and compressible cavity for accepting air and air-borne reagent therein. The collapsible container is fluidly connected with a narrow flexible extension that includes an elongated cavity or chamber. Isolated and/or free reagents are disposed within the chamber of the narrow flexible extension. These reagents are capable of reacting with each other, with atmospheric air, or with other gases and fluids to generate a visible aerosol when expelled into the surrounding air.

Presented is a flow metering valve that can precisely and accurately regulate the volume of the fluid-flow through entire range of measured flows. The valve comprises tubular body and moving stem in it. One end portion designated as a leading has threadely engaged stem and body. Another portion designated as a regulating has body with the stem extended to fill the tubular space longitudinally separating inlet and outlet ports. At least one of the surfaces&#x2014;the inner of the body or the outer of the stem&#x2014;is threaded and have their threads truncated by tapering truncation from the crest to the root. The truncated thread forms channel having cross-section tapering from one port to the other. The axially moving stem gradually changes the cross-section of the channel providing variable flow communication between the two ports. The fluid flow changes proportionally to the cross-section of the formed channel. The valve provides very fine regulation of the flow within four orders of magnitude.

A smooth bore barrel system utilizes an ammunition round capable to provide the projectile, covered with predetermined usually spiral grooves ( ) and lands ( ) congruently engaged in the rifled by the same manner inner surface ( A) of the cartridge case ( ). Smooth bore barrel system with self spinning ammunition

A mail box comprising a separated top and bottom port. A pivotally hinged gate/tray serves for depositing the incoming mail. The gate/tray has a pocket for outgoing mail and secures the top port from theft. Under the gate-tray a fixture with short wave ultraviolet (UV) light irradiates the box inside simultaneously generating ozone for a predetermined time. This time starts after the outgoing mail is put in the pocket or the incoming mail is dropped inside. A specially designed basket provides space around the mail where sanitizing gas freely diffuses. The light source can irradiate and activate gas-releasing material generating other disinfecting gas such as chlorine dioxide or ethylene oxide. The bottom port is closed by a locked door and allows for retrieving the mail, and setting and maintaining the UV-fixture. Two signals on an outside flag indicate the beginning and the end of the sanitizing process.
