A cable sleeve for light waveguides is constructed as a flat plate member in which a circular groove extends and has inlets extending tangentially from the groove. The cable sleeve can receive excess lengths of the cable as well as splices which excess lengths and splices are received in the circular groove.

Cable sleeve for light waveguide cables

A method for cutting an outer cladding or tube of a light waveguide cable to form a gap includes removing material on the opposite lateral portions of the outer cladding to produce flattened areas, forming an annular cut on each end of the flattened area and then splitting the cladding in the flattened areas to enable removal of the portion. To accomplish the production of the flattened areas, a milling unit having guide rollers for the cladding and a pair of milling wheels engaging opposite sides of a cladding of a cable held in the guide rollers is used.

Apparatus for cutting light waveguide cables

An optical transmission element that has an oil-containing filling compound and inside is provided with a two-layer outside sheath. The inside layer of the sheath is composed of a polyolefin and the outside layer is composed of a polyester, particularly of a polycarbonate. The shrinkage and swelling of the inside layer is largely compensated by the hard outside layer and the swelling portion, which usually appear at higher temperature, are kept extremely low.

Optical transmission element

A plastic covering for the anti-corrosion protection of articles is provided. The plastic covering is particularly directed to the repairing or sealing of plastic envelopes. The plastic covering is constructed from a non-crosslinked meltable plastic compound to which an organic peroxide is added.
