In a charging device for an internal combustion engine, the charging device has at least one first line for the intake of fresh air, having at least one air-gap-insulated exhaust-carrying component. This is assigned to an outlet side of the internal combustion engine. At least one regulating element for distributing an exhaust gas stream, and at least one regulating element for distributing a pre-compressed fresh air stream is provided. The air-gap insulated exhaust-carrying component has an outer chamber, through which a controllable stream of fresh air flows.

Charging device with exhaust gas temperature control device

A charging device (supercharger) for internal combustion engines, having at least one turbine part. A mass stream of exhaust gas flows into this via an inflow region, from which a bypass duct branches off for bypassing the at least one turbine part. The bypass duct opens out into a turbine outlet duct at an outlet location in back of the turbine part. The bypass duct is opened or closed either by a first control element situated in the inflow region at the inlet of the bypass duct or by a second control element at the outlet of the bypass duct leading into the turbine outlet duct.

Supercharging system for two-stage supercharging of V-type internal combustion engines

A method of effecting multi-stage supercharging in internal combustion machines comprising a supercharging system, wherein fresh air is first routed through a low-pressure compressor. At least a portion of the compressed air stream is compressed further in a high-pressure compressor, and the rest of the fresh air compressed in the low-pressure compressor is routed around the high-pressure compressor via a compressor bypass. All the fresh air is ultimately delivered to the internal combustion engine. The compressor bypass is opened or closed by a self-actuating valve in dependence on the differential pressure, the compressor bypass opening as soon as the pressure downstream from the high-pressure compressor is lower than the pressure upstream of the high-pressure compressor.

Method of effecting multistage super-charging in internal combustion engines

A compressor bypass valve for multistage supercharging an internal combustion engine equipped with a supercharging system. The valve includes a displacement body accommodated in a valve housing. The displacement body is divided into a first displacement part and a second displacement part. The first displacement part, facing the upstream side, moves to close or open the bypass in response to a pressure differential.

A method for controlling at least one actuator in a mass flow duct, which makes it possible to implement a predefined pressure upstream from the at least one actuator more rapidly. The flow resistance of the mass flow duct is modified by controlling the at least one actuator. A pressure upstream from the at least one actuator in the mass flow duct is predefined. A variable characterizing the flow resistance of the mass flow duct is determined as a function of the predefined pressure. The at least one actuator is controlled to set the related variable characterizing the flow resistance of the mass flow duct.
