A packaging container comprises a foil laminate comprising at least two layers in which openings are formed. The two layers are joined together over their entire surface area, except for in a striplike channel. A valve strip is disposed in the channel and in valvelike fashion covers the openings of the inner layer. If there is an overpressure in the packaging container resultant gas can escape into the open through the openings and the valve strip acts like an overpressure valve. As a result of the specialized disposition and embodiment of the valve strip and of the openings, a reliable escape of gas produced is achieved.

A method of producing overpressure valves for packaging containers supplied in a roll, transported in this form to a packaging machine, separated at the machine and attached to packaging containers by means of an adhesive coated surface. For this purpose the overpressure valves have a layer of emulsion bonding on their underside. To prevent individual layers of the roll from sticking together, the overpressure valves have an adhesive-repelling layer on their top side. The overpressure valves are connected to one another in one piece and in a row, and are separated consecutively in a packaging machine.

A bag package making machine that operates aseptically and in which a product is filled into a tube of packaging material and bag packages are partitioned off from that tube, the parts that come into contact with the packaging material and the product are sterilized, before filling operation begins, by passing a sterilizing agent through the filling tube and the bag forming part. For passing a sterilizing agent through the filling tube, a cup-shaped connecting element, which is enclosed by the packaging material tube, is connected to the outlet of the filling tube. Toward the end of the sterilizing phase, the filling tube and the connecting element are moved apart from one another, and the part of the packaging material tube surrounding these parts is sealed off between the connecting element and the filling tube and severed, so that the filling tube end remains in the closed end portion of the tube of packaging material which continues in a sterilized condition.

A method and apparatus is proposed for sealing hard gelatine capsules or similar hollow containers filled with liquid, so that a secure sealing of the fill opening is attained with the aid of a sealant and in which an escape of the sealant--as a result of which the fill opening would be sealed either incorrectly or not at all--is avoided.

A dosing device for germ-free measuring and filling of liquid material into containers. The dosing device has a dosing pump situated between a material supply chamber and a material filling chamber. In particular the pump has an extended chamber which permits freeing of the pump piston during sterilization. The supply chamber, the extended chamber and the filling chamber are interconnected by rigidly arranged channels, and the upper part of the supply chamber is connected through a further chamber of the pump to the filling chamber for placing these chambers in contact with a sterile atmosphere.

Dosing device for germ-free measurements and filling of liquid material

A method and a machine for continuous production of liquid-filled packages employs a series of transverse welding mechanisms for making seams across a hose-like material. Thus, pockets are formed into which liquid material is introduced somewhat in excess of the desired nominal amount. The over-filled pocket is then moved to a squeezing station where pressure is applied to force part of the liquid back out of the pocket into the next following pocket and where the pocket is shaped into the final package. When the desired final shape and volume are reached, the upper seam is completely welded, thus closing the package which is then severed from the hose.
