A road vehicle hydraulic brake system, having a master brake cylinder for generating a master cylinder pressure based on the braking intent of a driver of the vehicle, having a hydraulic unit connected between the master brake cylinder and at least one wheel brake cylinder of at least one wheel, and a method of control thereof are described. The hydraulic unit, with which a brake pressure boost is achievable by generating in the at least one wheel brake cylinder a wheel cylinder pressure greater than the master cylinder pressure, has a system of actuatable valves and at least one hydraulic pump. A differential pressure valve between the master brake cylinder and the hydraulic unit opens or closes the hydraulic connection between the master brake cylinder and the hydraulic unit at a predetermined pressure difference between the master cylinder pressure and the wheel cylinder pressure, to increase the wheel cylinder pressure.

A method and a device for check-testing a braking system in which, before travel commences, a self-test of the braking system is performed. During the course of the self-test, the valve arrangements allocated to the wheel brakes and the pressure supply providing the brake pressure are driven in a predefined manner. A plurality of test phases are provided, after whose respective conclusions, a pressure level to be expected should be reached. Otherwise a secondary braking operation is initiated at least for the subsequent operating cycle of the vehicle.

The invention relates to a method and an apparatus for the production of a plate with depressions or apertures which is coated on at least one side. Plates of this kind are employed, for example, as passage-containing plates in hydraulic blocks for ABS/ASR/VDC systems, the depressions or apertures serving as passages or holes and the coating being a seal. In this invention the depressions or apertures are formed in an uncoated plate and then the plate is coated. As a result, the life of the machining tools is extended, the machining tolerances become smaller and the rate of machining can be increased.

During ASR control of spinning drive wheels, the pressure level in the wheel brake with the highest pressure level is modulated by driving a switching valve USV which affects the pressure in all the wheel brakes of the brake circuit, whereas the pressure level in the other wheel brake or brakes is controlled by way of wheel-specific inlet and outlet valves. The intake control valve ASV is kept open through the entire ASR control period. As a result, the electrically actuated ASV can be replaced by a hydraulically actuated ASV.

A travel simulator having a progressive pedal characteristic to be in operation in a power-actuated service brake. The hydraulic brake system has a valve assembly for the switching of the brake system into operation as either a service brake or as an emergency brake. The master cylinder has a pressure fluid reservoir, two pressure chambers, and an intermediate piston as well. The intermediate piston is supported on a travel simulator spring. When the service brake is in operation, pressure fluid can be diverted from the second pressure chamber into the reservoir, and the intermediate piston is moved against the resistance of the spring. When the emergency brake is in operation, both pressure chambers communicate with one another so that the intermediate piston is pressure balanced. When the pedal is actuated, pressure fluid is expelled from the first pressure chamber. The intermediate piston is not subject to any motion during an emergency brake operation. The brake system is for use in road vehicles.

A dual-circuit braking system for motor vehicles with an anti-locking device and optionally traction control, which is equipped with at least one pressure reducer for the brake pressure in the front-axle brake cylinders. With normal braking this pressure reducer is activated and the brake pressure on the front wheels is reduced. In the case of anti-locking, the pressure reducer is deactivated. However, with a defect in the electrical system or the anti-locking device, the pressure reducer is de-activated, and braking occurs at the front and rear such that vehicle deceleration of 0.82 G blocks the front wheels before the rear wheels.

A known hydraulic vehicle brake system has an anti-skid valve assembly. By this assembly, the at least one wheel brake can be temporarily disconnected from the master brake cylinder and connected to one inlet of a return pump, which furnishes the quantities of pressure fluid flowing out of the wheel brakes both to a damper chamber and, via a damper throttle, to the master brake cylinder and/or the at least one wheel brake. The disadvantage is that all of the pressure fluid pumped by the return pump can sometimes reach the master brake cylinder, disagreeably moving the brake pedal in the direction of its outset position. This can annoy a driver and should be avoided. The improved vehicle brake system has a valve, which in anti-skid operation can be blocked, located between the damper throttle and the master brake cylinder and also has a bypass throttle bypassing the valve. As a result, during anti-skid operation, the brake pedal is not displaced to such an annoying extent.
