A fill level measurement system for detecting a topology of a filling material surface or a volume of a filling material in a container including a master device and one or more slave devices, the master device being designed to transmit control signals to the slave device. As the slave devices do not include all the functionalities of an independent fill level measurement device, the slave devices can be produced in a cost-effective manner.

There is provided a level measuring device including at least two electrical circuits connected in series with respect to an external power supply of the level measuring device. A decoupling circuit is disposed between the electrical circuits and is configured to distribute available power between the two electrical circuits according to requirements. At least the second electrical circuit includes an energy store as an energy buffer configured to equalize a fluctuating energy consumption of the second electrical circuit such that a start time of the level measuring device can be shortened.

A measurement device arrangement includes a measurement device measuring a distance to an object, for example in the form of a depth measurement. A control unit is provided, which calculates the point in time for the next distance measurement, taking account of current or predicted weather conditions at the location of the measurement device. The frequency of the measurement can thus be adjusted to the weather conditions in order to reduce the power consumption of the measurement device without having to go without punctual reports of depth changes in the process.

The solar module supplies the field device with electrical energy and may be placed on top of the housing body at various angles of rotation, as a result of which at the same time an electrical contact between the solar module and an energy storage device is provided.
