The invention relates to a ceramic material for capacitors. In order to achieve reduced self-heating on assembly of the material into multilayer capacitors with antiferroelectric properties and a high dielectric constant, a ceramic material of formula &#x250c;Pb(BaSrCa)&#x2518;(XY)A(ZrTi)Ois proposed, where X and Y both represent a rare metal earth selected from the group consisting of La, Nd, Y, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er and/or Yb; where A represents a monovalent ion; x+y+z=1; x and/or y and/or z&#x3e;0; 0&#x3c;r&#x3c;0.3; 0&#x3c;d&#x3c;1; 0&#x3c;a&#x3c;0.2; 0&#x3c;b&#x3c;0.2; 0&#x3c;c&#x3c;0.2.

Ceramic material and capacitor comprised thereof

A ceramic multi-layer capacitor includes a main body, which has ceramic layers arranged along a layer stacking direction to form a stack, and first and second electrode layers arranged between the ceramic layers. The multi-layer capacitor also includes a first external contact-connection arranged on a first side surface of the main body and electrically conductively connected to the first electrode layers, and a second external contact-connection arranged on a second side surface of the main body. The second side surface is situated opposite the first side surface and is electrically conductively connected to the second electrode layers.

A ceramic multilayer capacitor includes a first capacitor unit, which comprises a first material, and a second capacitor units, which comprises a second material. The first and the second capacitor unit are electrically connected in parallel. At low applied voltages, the first material has a high dielectric value and, at high applied voltages the second material has a high dielectric value.

A method for tuning a resonant frequency of a piezoelectric component is disclosed. The piezoelectric component includes a transducer extending in three spatial directions. The resonant frequency depends on an extension in at least one of the spatial directions and/or on a material-dependent elasticity modulus. The transducer includes a layered structure with at least two first electrodes and at least one second electrode, which is disposed between the two first electrodes. In the method, a DC voltage is applied to at least one of the at least two first electrodes and the at least one second electrode, so that a change of the resonant frequency results due to a change to the extension in the one spatial direction and the elasticity modulus. A control voltage with an excitation frequency is applied, the excitation frequency substantially corresponding to the modified resonant frequency. This generates a vibration of the piezoelectric component.

A method for increasing the ESD pulse stability of an electrical component is disclosed. An electrical component is pre-aged by means of an aging pulse generated by a pulse generator. A piezoelectric component with a body in which electrically connected transducer elements are realized is disclosed. The transducer elements are separated from each other by an essentially field-free neutral region of the body. A first transducer element has electrically connected first electrodes, and a second transducer element has electrically connected second electrodes. These internal electrodes have an overlapping region, which extends up to the surface of the body on at least one side. The internal electrodes have a recess in a corner region of the body.

The invention is directed to a low-capacitance multi-layer varistor having a ceramic body and two terminals that are applied on the ceramic body spaced from one another. The ceramic body is constructed in film technology with multi-layer structure and preferably comprises inner electrodes whose ends lie opposite one another with a gap.
