An information handling system display presents visual images with LED backlights to provide illumination through a liquid crystal display (LCD) panel having an array of pixels. The backlight includes a first blue LED that illuminates in a first blue light spectrum, such as approximately 450 nm, and a second blue LED that illuminates in a second blue light spectrum, such as greater than or equal to 460 nm. The blue lights provide different proportions of backlight based upon the age of an end user viewing the display, such as a greater proportion of longer blue wavelengths when the age is below a threshold and a shorter blue wavelength when the age is above a threshold.

A display for an information handling system includes a front panel, multiple halos, and a matrix structure. The halos are located behind the front panel, and each of the halos transitions between a closed position and an open position. The matrix structure is located along both sides and a top portion of the front panel. The matrix structure includes multiple color filter pixels, multiple patterned charge components, and multiple electronic ink balls. The patterned charge components are placed in either of first and second charge states. The electronic ink balls are disposed in between the color filter pixels and the patterned charge components. Each of the electronic ink balls includes a white portion and a black portion, and transitions between first and second orientations based on whether the patterned charge components are in the first charge state or the second charge state.

A composite film for a quantum dot—organic light emitting diode (QD-OLED) display panel of an information handling system includes a polarizer film, a quarter wavelength retarder film, and a reflective polarizer film. The polarizer film reduces ambient light reflections within the QD-OLED display panel. The quarter wavelength retarder film is in physical communication with the polarizer film. The quarter wavelength retarder film combines with the polarizer film to reduce the ambient light reflections. The reduction of the ambient light reflections increases a contrast ratio for the QD-OLED display panel. The reflective polarizer film is in physical communication with the quarter wavelength retarder film. The reflective polarizer film increases a luminance of the QD-OLED display panel to a first value that is greater than a second value of the luminance created by the polarizer film and the quarter wavelength retarder film.

A display for an information handling system includes a thin-film transistor (TFT) glass and a color filter layer. A black matrix layer is in physical communication with the TFT glass and with the color filter layer. The black matrix layer is disposed between the TFT glass and the color filter layer, and absorbs light that moves through the TFT glass.

A display for an information handling system includes a front panel, a rear portion, and multiple halos. The halos are located in between the front panel and the rear portion, and each of the halos transition between a closed position and an open position. The first halo includes a dual lenticular surface and a main portion. The dual lenticular surface directs a bias light along the first halo. The main portion is in physical communication with the dual lenticular surface. The main portion receives the bias lighting from the dual lenticular surface, and reflects the bias lighting toward a front of the display.

According to one embodiment, a display for presenting information generated by an Information Handling System (IHS) includes a screen disposed on a front side of the display, one or more bias lights disposed on a rear side of the display, a baffle comprising a baffle surface, the baffle coupled to the rear side of the display, and a selectively reflective layer disposed on the baffle surface, wherein the selectively reflective layer has a reflectivity that is changeable to selectively reflect a varying amount of light outputted from the bias lights.

The one or more protrusions may be in contact with a mold frame of the display. The first portion of the chip-on-film adjacent to the one or more protrusions may not be in contact with the mold frame of the display.

The damper includes a compression portion and a catch portion. The compression portion deforms in response to a force exerted on the compression portion by the light guide plate. The catch portion includes a first groove that interfaces with an end of the compression portion during a first environmental condition. The first groove holds the end of the compression portion and supports the light guide plate when the display is in a pivot position during the first environmental condition.

A scaler unit receives a change event notification associated with a change to a new overdrive setting of the liquid crystal display panel, and determines a set of lookup table values associated with the change to the new overdrive setting of the liquid crystal display panel. The scaler unit determines a size of data to be transmitted based on the set of lookup table values, and divides the data to be transmitted into data portions based on factors that include the size of the data to be transmitted, speed of an inter-integrated circuit bus, or length of a vertical blank period. The scaler unit then transmits one of the data portions during the vertical blank period via the inter-integrated circuit bus.

System and method for overdrive setting control on a liquid crystal display

An information handling system display monitor transitions between flat and curved configurations by actuation of a shaped memory alloy wire within the display monitor housing. For example, a nickel titanium wire is heated by application of current across the wire to transition its crystalline form, thereby shortening the wire to adjust the configuration of a foldable display film, such as an OLED display film. Separate shaped memory alloy wires may be used to achieve foldable display film movement in each direction, or actuation of a shaped memory alloy wire in one direction may generate bias in a spring in the opposite direction that is released when a change in foldable display film configuration is desired.
