A process for cryogenic separation of a feed stream containing methane and air gases in which: the feed stream is cooled in order to produce a cooled stream, at least one portion of the cooled stream is sent to one level of a distillation column, a bottom stream is drawn off from the distillation column, the bottom stream being enriched in methane relative to the feed stream, a stream enriched in oxygen and in nitrogen relative to the feed stream is drawn off from the distillation column, at least one noncombustible dilution stream that is more volatile than oxygen is introduced into the distillation column at at least one level lower than the one at which the cooled stream is introduced. The dilution stream is extracted from the feed stream. A method for producing biomethane by purifying biogas from non-hazardous waste storage facilities involves compressing the initial gas flow, introducing the gas flow to be purified into at least one adsorber loaded with adsorbents capable of reversibly adsorbing the VOCs, and subjecting the VOC-depleted gas flow to at least one membrane separation step in order to partially separate the COand Ofrom the gas flow. The method also involves introducing the retentate from the membrane separation step into at least one adsorber loaded with adsorbents capable of reversibly adsorbing the major portion of the remaining CO, subjecting the CO-depleted gas flow exiting the adsorber loaded with adsorbents capable of reversibly adsorbing the major portion of the remaining COto a cryogenic separation step in a distillation column in order to separate the Oand Nfrom the gas flow, and recovering the CH-rich flow from the cryogenic separation step.

Method for producing biomethane by purifying biogas from non-hazardous waste storage facilities and facility for implementing the method

The present invention relates to a process for producing biomethane suitable for supplying a natural gas network that incorporates a process for providing heat for heating the biogas production step, the process comprising at least steps of producing biogas by anaerobic fermentation of organic matter, of pretreating and compressing the biogas and also of permeation in order to obtain, after a first separation by permeation, a stream of biomethane and a gaseous permeate having a reduced methane content; the process additionally provides the heat necessary for the anaerobic fermentation step via a boiler using the retentate from a second permeation step fed by the permeate from the first separation.
