An orthopedic walker or walking boot has a body formed from at least one polymeric material. The body defines an upper receiving section, a lower receiving section, and a footbed. The upper receiving section includes first and second portions divided by a median plane of the orthopedic walker, and are arranged to individually articulate about or from the median plane to expand or retract a variable distance between the first and second portions of the upper receiving section along one of anterior or posterior sides of the body. The body may consist of the upper receiving section, the lower receiving section, and the footbed as a continuous structure formed unitarily from the expanded thermoplastic.

Orthopedic walker

A prosthetic knee can include a variable-torque magnetorheological (MR) actuator assembly or braking system, a frame and an electronics assembly or system that also serves as a mount for the knee actuator and facilitates in monitoring and controlling the operation of the knee actuator. The prosthetic knee system advantageously provides resistive forces to substantially simulate the position and motion of a natural knee joint during ambulation and/or other locomotory activities performed by the amputee. The prosthetic knee can be enclosed in a waterproof compartment. An outer cover can be configured to fit around the waterproof cover of the prosthetic knee.

A dynamic tension system connects to an orthopedic device having a frame and a hinge connected to the frame. The dynamic tension system includes a cable, an adjustment mechanism connected to the cable and arranged to incrementally wind or release the cable, and a tension control device connected to the adjustment mechanism and arranged to limit the adjustment mechanism from winding of the cable past a predetermined tension level.

An orthopedic device has first and second elongate struts each having a strap coupling member, and a flexible strap securing to the first and second struts by the strap coupling members. The orthopedic device includes various embodiments of hinge assemblies including flexion and extension stops and locks for maintaining the hinge assembly in a fixed configuration. The orthopedic device has various embodiments of strap assemblies for securing components to cuff assemblies.

Orthopedic device

A prosthetic adapter including a lower connector, an upper connector rotatably coupled to the lower connector, and a locking mechanism for preventing the upper connector from rotating relative to the lower connector. The locking mechanism is arranged to generally automatically retain a locked position when the lower connector is rotated to an original, predetermined alignment. An activation member is connected to and arranged for operating the locking mechanism.

Knee rotational adapter

A negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) orthopedic device includes a base shell and a dorsal shell contoured to generally correspond to an opening of the base shell. The dorsal shell includes a proximal section and a distal section. The proximal section at least in part defines a receiving space. A NPWT system includes a pump mechanism secured in the receiving space and a wound covering situated inside of the base shell and arranged to form a sealed volume over a wound area of a user. At least one conduit forms a fluid connection between the wound covering and the pump mechanism. The pump mechanism is arranged to apply a negative pressure to the wound area through the at least one conduit.

Negative pressure wound therapy orthopedic device

An orthopedic device includes a base shell having ankle and foot receiving portions. The base shell forms an opening over a dorsal aspect of the base shell. A dorsal shell is contoured to generally correspond to the opening in the base shell. At least one tightening member is connectable to the base shell and extendable over the dorsal shell to secure the base and dorsal shells together about a user's lower leg and foot. At least one inflatable bladder is provided in the ankle receiving portion of the base shell. A pump assembly is arranged to inflate the at least one inflatable bladder. The pump assembly is situated on the at least one tightening member such that the position of the pump assembly is substantially fixed relative to the base shell as a user walks in the orthopedic device.

A pin lock for a prosthetic device in a vacuum assisted suspension system includes a pin defining a longitudinally elongate bore and at least one passageway extending obliquely relative to the bore and communicating therewith at a proximal end of the pin. The pin lock also includes a locking mechanism having a receiving port arranged to receive the pin and a channel located at a distal end of the receiving port and adapted to communicate with the bore to exhaust air through the pin therefrom.

An ankle module for a prosthetic foot can have an adapter portion pivotally coupled to a base portion. The base portion can be coupled to the prosthetic foot. The adapter portion can have a coupling member that removably couples the prosthetic foot to a prosthetic pylon or socket. The adapter portion can also have cylinders housing pistons slidably displaceable within the cylinders. An actuator is selectively actuatable to place the cylinders in fluid communication, allowing a fluid to flow between the cylinders as an angular position of the adapter portion is adjusted relative to the base portion, thereby adjusting the dorsi-plantar position between the adapter portion and the base portion of the ankle module. The actuator can be selectively actuatable to fluidly isolate the cylinders from each other so that the angular position of the adapter portion relative to the base portion remains substantially fixed.

A polycentric hinge for an orthopedic device includes first and second hinge arms, and two cover plates, rather than numerous individual parts and fasteners. The first and second cover plates define a plurality of bearings and a plurality of recesses for receiving the bearings, whereby the hinge arms are mounted about the bearings and are pivotable relative to one another while encased by the first and second cover plates.
