An insulating housing has a circuit board mounted on its interior with separate conductive tab end portions of the board protruding outwardly through apertures in the housing. The tab portions have printed thereon conductive parts which connect with selected printed points or components on the board within the housing. Each tab has a hole for a screw in its conductive part so that when a wire is wound around the screw and the screw is tightened, good low-ohmic contact with a designated part of the board is made and the tab is positionally fixed to the housing. Slots between the tabs permit each screw binding post to be electrically insulated from its adjacent post by the interposition of integrally molded perpendicular barriers in the slots.

Circuit board-terminal-housing assembly

An assembly which involves a ratchet wheel adapted to be rotated by incremental steps to drive a shaft connected thereto. A rotatable pushbutton is mounted through a hole in the chassis and is connected to a rod to which a flexible pawl is mounted parallel to the rod. When the pushbutton is in one rotary position, inward pressure strokes on the pushbutton cause the pawl to engage teeth in one region of the ratchet wheel causing it to move in a clockwise direction. When the pushbutton is rotated 180.degree. to a second rotary position, each inward push on the pushbutton causes the pawl to engage respective teeth in another region of the wheel thereby moving the wheel incrementally one step in a counterclockwise direction.

Two-way pawl-ratchet wheel assembly

A timer has a single knob which is normally used to set a desired timing cycle within a given range and also, when pulled out, to set a selected one of a plurality of ranges. When the knob is pulled out, projections formed on the control shaft engage a concentrically-mounted rotatable disc having at least one set of peripheral teeth. These teeth engage a flexible plastic detent formed in the front of the plastic housing of the timer. The rotatable disc is coupled to a reciprocating slider having conductive fingers which engage predetermined pairs of conductive contacts on a circuit board. As the disc rotates and the slider fingers touch different pairs of contacts, different circuit components are actuated thereby changing the range. In one variation of the timer, means are provided for changing the visible decimal point on the dial to correspond to the range selected.

Single knob variable range timer

An indicating system has a left input section to which electrical leads from relatively high voltage apparatus in the field are coupled. The input section includes a number of horizontal input circuit boards which are electrically connected with a central 'logic' section having a number of horizontal logic subassemblies. Each subassembly comprises a 'daughter board' with subcircuits thereon which simulate the action of a number of sets of relay switch contacts and the action of a coil which 'controls' the respective states of certain ones of the sets of contacts. The central logic section is connected to a right output section comprising a number of vertically-spaced, horizontal output circuit boards which isolate the logic section from the voltages in the valves, motors, etc. in the field that are controlled thereby. A plurality of modules are provided which may be manually slipped onto the front edge of the 'daughter board', each module bearing a symbol representing a component of a conventional ladder diagram. When it is pressed inward onto the front edge of the daughter board, it may have a portion which cooperates with one or more of the logic subcircuits thereupon, causing that subcircuit to simulate the operation corresponding to the symbol on the module. The module symbols and vertical lines on the left and right sections create a conventional ladder diagram whose operation is electrically simulated by the central logic section's subcircuits.
