A surgical device for treating the pathology of flat feet, the device comprising an outer casing; and an expansion member suitable for moving inside said outer casing in a compression direction, for causing said outer casing to expand radially; the surgical device being provided with non-return check means shaped to allow the expansion member to move in the compression direction towards an operating position inside the outer casing and to oppose movement of the expansion member in the reverse direction once said operating position is reached, so as to prevent the expansion member from being expelled.

The invention provides an ankle prosthesis for use in the field of orthopedic prostheses comprising a talus implant for implanting in or on the talus and a top element including a tibia implant for implanting in or on the base of the tibia. The top element and the talus implant being mounted to move relative to each other by friction on a contact interface so as to allow the ankle to move. The contact interface presents a friction surface that can be considered as being a fraction of a substantially frustoconical surface. When implanted, the substantially frustoconical surface is oriented so that its larger radius portion is directed substantially towards the outside of the ankle.

A surgical device implantable in the subtalar tunnel for treating the flat foot condition, composed of: a central cylindrical body having an outer cylindrical surface provided with a first screw thread; an expansion cone having a longitudinally extending internal bore provided with a second screw thread mateable with the first screw thread, the cone further having an external surface of conical form; and an external cylinder having an internal conical surface engageable with the cone and constructed to be radially expandable in response to movement of the cone in a longitudinal direction relative to the cylinder, the cone being longitudinally moveable by rotation relative to the cylindrical body while the first and second threads are in threaded engagement with one another.
