A ball injector for connecting below the frac head of a frac tree to accommodate and sequentially drop a ball into the axial passageway of the frac tree. The ball injector has an axial passage of an injector housing aligned with the axial passageway of the frac tree. A ball cartridge assembly stores one or more balls and sequentially delivers one ball to a port in the ball cartridge assembly. A ball launch side arm extends from the injector housing and forms a ball launch passageway communicating between the ball cartridge port and the axial passage. A first valve member in the ball launch passageway is opened to pass the ball into the axial passage, and is closed to isolate the ball cartridge assembly from a pressure in the axial passage. A second valve member between the first valve member and the ball cartridge assembly may be included to form a pressure isolation chamber between the valve members. Embodiments of ball cartridge assemblies to horizontally store a plurality of balls is provided. Also provided is a method of delivering a ball into a frac tree below the frac head, and a method of delivering and monitoring a ball progression into the frac tree, for example with a camera.

Ball injector for frac tree

A wellhead assembly to seal and suspend an in-casing hydraulic drive unit for a downhole pump, including pressure-containing wellhead body members with a vertical bore and a production bore at its uppermost portion. A hydraulic pump hanger is retained and sealed in the vertical bore. The hydraulic pump hanger suspends and seals the hydraulic cylinder, includes a bore extending vertically therethrough, forms at least one hydraulic line to communicate with hydraulic fluid supply lines, forms a hydraulic inlet port to each hydraulic line, and provides a check valve sealed in each hydraulic inlet port. The wellhead body member(s) includes a stem port aligned with each hydraulic inlet port, with a valve actuating stem sealed in each stem port to actuate each check valve between a normally closed and open position. The wellhead body member(s) also includes hydraulic injection port(s) formed to supply hydraulic fluid to each hydraulic inlet port.

Wellhead assembly for hydraulic pumping system

The invention provides a wellhead assembly including a wellhead housing supporting a tubing hanger within its central bore and forming a housing stem port through its outer wall to the central bore. The tubing hanger has a side stem port formed through its body intermediate its upper and lower ends providing access to the central bore of the hanger and being aligned with the housing stem port. The tubing hanger includes a ball valve member having a spherical exterior surface sealed and seated from above and below within the central bore of the hanger. The ball valve member forms a through port extending therethrough aligned with the production bore, and is rotatable in its seated position between open and closed positions with the through port being aligned with the production bore when in the open position. A slot in the exterior surface of the ball valve member if formed proximate the stem port. A ball stem assembly is sealed for axial rotation in both the stem port of the body and the housing stem port of the wellhead housing, one end of the stem providing a coupling for rotatably coupling to the slot in the ball valve member, the other end of the stem assembly extending exterior of the wellhead housing. The ball valve member is externally operated between open and closed positions by an operator coupled to the ball stem assembly exterior the wellhead housing.
