A method and computer program product for detecting a policy conflict in a managed system includes examining a plurality of policy rules for overlapping policy targets, in response to finding no overlapping policy targets, reporting that the policy rules do not conflict, and in response to finding overlapping policy targets, examining the plurality of policy rules for at least two rules having a same condition and a same event, and, in response to not finding at least two rules having a same condition and a same event, reporting that the policy rules do not conflict.

Efficient policy conflict detection

A method and system for managing a policy includes, in response to determining the presence of a conflict, determining a semantic equivalence between a component of a policy rule and at least one additional policy rule. The determining a semantic equivalence is performed by using a semantic reasoning algorithm that includes the steps of determining a first policy target of a first policy rule and a second policy target of a second policy rule, determining a meaning of the first policy target and a meaning of the second policy rule, assigning a confidence value based on the determined meaning of the first policy, assigning a confidence value based on the determined meaning of the second policy, performing a semantic comparison between the first policy target and the second policy target, and determining, based at least in part on the semantic comparison, the presence of a conflict between the first and second policy targets.

Performing policy conflict detection and resolution using semantic analysis

A system, method, and information processing system manage a network. At least one contract including one or more components is received at a network that uses a component based architecture. A first operation () in the set of operations associated with the contract () is mapped to a policy rule event () associated with at least one policy rule (). Automatic translation of contracts to policies in policy-based networks

As routers () are added to an existing network (), links serviced by such routers that lack a pre-existing corresponding address prefix may occur. The router () can contact a prefix server () and engage in a process to automatically receive a new address prefix from the prefix server () to use with such links. In one embodiment, the prefix server () can automatically assign such address prefixes to form or maintain an aggregation of routes to facilitate the efficient operation of routers within the network and overall network growth.

Method and apparatus for interactive communication between half-duplex and full-duplex systems

Session Inter-Device (SID) mobility networks () are described in which a seamless transfer of a communication session from a first device () to a second device () can be achieved without interrupting the active session. According to the SID mobility network (), the transfer can be accomplished by transferring away from the Transferring Node or first device () the IP address associated with the active session () so that the network () will route the session to the desired Target Node or second device (). The Transferring Node () transfers its IP address () to the Agent () and stops requesting data packets addressed to its IP address (). The Agent () then begins to request and eventually receive the packets addressed to the Transferring Node's IP address (). The Agent () then transfers the packets to the Target Node (). In an alternate SID mobility network (), the Transferring Node () transfers a session specific IP address () to the Agent (). The Agent () then transfers packets sent to the session specific IP address () to the Target Node (). In another SID mobility network (), the Transferring Node () obtains a temporary IP address () and transfers its IP address () to a Session Agent (). The Session Agent () begins to request and eventually receive the packets addressed to the Transferring Node's IP address (), and for each received packet determines if it belongs to the session the Transferring Node () requested to transfer to the Target Node (). If it does, the Session Agent () will transfer the packet to the Target Node () at the Target Node's IP address (). If it does not, the Session Agent () will transfer the packet to the Transferring Node () at its temporary IP address (). In each SID mobility network, the session with respect to the Correspondent Node continues without interruption throughout the transfer, thereby providing a seamless transfer of the session from a first device to a second device.

Method and apparatus for processing a communication signal based on the geographical location of a communication device

A dispatch based call system configured to contact a call center using a single unique name or number. Multiple users are able to simultaneously dispatch the single generic call center number and communicate with a unique end station or individual at the call center. A user, or subscriber unit, when dispatching a call communicates initially with the service provider infrastructure. The infrastructure then establishes communication with the call center. The call center determines the identifier of an available end station and the subscriber is subsequently connected to the available end station.

Call center access in a push to talk based call system

EMI spur interference is reduced in a system where the desired signal has periodically repeating components without destructively interfering with the repeating components. The frequency of the spur interference is determined (203) and fed to a notch filter (201) so as to center the notch at the frequency of the spur interference. Determination of the frequency is scheduled (601) to avoid cancellation of desired periodically repeating components of the signal.
