A method includes processing a video stream on at least one first camera device to identify actionable motion objects (AMOs). The at least one first camera device or computer system in communication therewith is caused to transmit metadata associated with the identified AMOs to at least one second camera device. A viewing area of the at least one second camera device is dynamically controlled in response to the metadata to enable the at least one second camera device to track and focus on at least one of the identified AMOs.

Multi-camera tracking

A method and system are provided to calibrate multiple camera devices to perform multi-camera tracking of one or more objects. The method and system identifies one or more common (or matching) calibration points on both of a first image or video stream captured by a first camera device and a second image or video stream captured by a second camera. Each of the one or more common calibration points are in a field of view of the first and second camera devices. The method and system further determines coordinate information for the first and second camera devices from the one or more common calibration points, and evaluates the coordinate information to determine alignment parameters, which reflect a location and orientation of the second camera device relative to the first camera device.

A method and system are provided to perform electronic image stabilization of images captured by an image sensor on a camera device. In the method and system, non-linear motion of a camera device is measured with a motion sensor during an exposure time for each line of a frame captured by the image sensor of the camera device. A first line of the frame has a first exposure time, and subsequent lines of the frame have an exposure time that is later than a previous line of the frame, each line of the frame having an associated position in the frame. The position of each line of the frame is adjusted based, at least in part, on the measured non-linear motion to create a modified frame that corrects for non-linear motion that occurred for each line of the frame.

Auto-focus in a digital camera is improved by stabilizing successive images. Each auto-focus image is correlated to previous images so that scene movement or motion can be tracked. The area in the scene where focus figure-of-merit is computed is adjusted according to the amount of scene movement. Also, two separate focus frames may be compared to determine the direction and speed of the motion. This improves the accuracy of the focus figure-of-merit which results in fewer autofocus failures.
