A novel and improved elbow prosthesis and method of implanting same including a prosthesis system that has a retaining system. The joint prosthesis system can include an implant, and an alignment guide. The alignment guide can include a post member extending through a central axis of rotation in a prosthesis and a drill guide member having a first limiting member for limiting articular surface removal from a joint. The first limiting member can include a recessed guide for positioning the implant.

A bone screw cutting system can include a cutting assembly having a plurality of blades. The system can further include a position adjustment assembly coupled to the cutting assembly and configured to receive a bone screw blank and position the bone screw blank relative to the cutting assembly. The cutting assembly is configured to cut a bone screw blank received by the position adjustment assembly and to form a self-tapping end portion at a cut end of a resulting cut bone screw.

A saw blade includes a main body having a first surface, a second surface on an opposite side of the main body from the first surface, a proximal edge portion, a distal edge portion, and first and second side portions extending between the proximal and distal edge portions. An implantable orthopedic wedge can include a main body having a base portion and an apical portion, the apical portion including a first end. The main body can have a thickness that tapers along a perimeter of the main body from a first thickness at the base portion to a second thickness at the apical portion. The implantable orthopedic wedge can also include a fixation member coupled to the main body and configured to receive one or more anchoring elements to anchor the wedge to an implantation site.

A bone plate has a curved elongated body including a first end portion and a second end portion. The first end portion is laterally offset relative to the second end portion, and includes a plurality of screw holes. A first screw hole is defined by the second end portion. Each of the screw holes of the first end portion are laterally offset from a straight line extending in a direction along a length dimension of the bone plate and bisecting the first screw hole of the second end portion, and each of the screw holes of the first end portion are on the same side of the straight line as one another.

The retaining member can be configured to releasably link together two or more components of a joint implant in an orientation suitable for implantation. A femoral implant includes a main shaft with a proximal end and a smooth distal end. A porous circumferential collar is provided between the proximal end and distal end, and a porous distally-extending portion extends distally from the collar to provide for additional bone ingrowth.

Disclosed are embodiments of an improved joint prosthesis that can provide the option to improve initial stability without removing the implant or altering the preparation. Embodiments of improved joint implant components can comprise one or more expandable, hollow segmented posts. Methods of implant fixation are also disclosed. Disclosed methods can provide the opportunity for establishing initial biologic fixation (bone ingrowth), and can also provide an adjunct fixation through injecting cement down the center of the post if initial stability is not achieved or is questionable.

A method of implanting an aggregate joint prosthesis with a side approach to a joint includes exposing a side surface of a joint and positioning a pin member within the joint. Articular surfaces can be drilled and milled, and the prosthesis can be implanted. A set plate can be removed, with the set plate being configured to releasably link at least two components of the aggregate prosthesis.
