A therapeutic device for stimulating the anatomy of the cervical spine and neck is provided and includes a housing having an upper portion configured for receiving and cradling the cervical spine and the neck. The therapeutic device includes a motorized rotor assembly having a plurality of rollers. The rotor assembly rotating about a first axis and the plurality of rollers rotating independently from one another and about axes spaced from the first axis. The rotor assembly is configured to transmit percussive energy to the cervical spine and the neck.

A surgical cannula and method may be constructed in disposable or reusable forms, and may have at least one outwardly extending projection or rib along an outer surface of a tubular shaft. Such a rib, or ribs, may also extend along an outer surface of a cannula tip. A bore in the tubular shaft may have a substantially circular cross-sectional shape, or alternatively in embodiments with outwardly extending ribs may be non-circular and include at least one lobe extending outward into at least one outwardly projecting rib. Some embodiments also include apertures having peripheries that are at least partly configured to form cutting edges.

Surgical cannula

A heat and moisture exchanger for both conducting a stream of air produced by a ventilator to a moisturizing medium and internally bypassing the moisturizing medium if aerosolized medication is introduced into the stream includes a housing having a ventilator-side port coupled to an outlet of a ventilator and a source of aerosolized medication. The housing has a patient-side port for coupling to a patient to provide ventilation including either air or air carrying aerosolized medication. A first path conducts air from the ventilator-side port through the moisturizing medium and the patient-side port, and a second path conducts air carrying aerosolized medication from the ventilator-side port directly to the patient-side port. A two-way valve mechanism in the housing selectively couples the ventilator-side port into fluid communication with one or the other of the first and second paths.
