A cover system for a sound suppressor that reduces the mirage created by the heat generated when a projectile is fired through the sound suppressor and allows the sound suppressor's appearance to be easily changed to blend in with the sound suppressor's surroundings. The cover system comprises a front cap and a cylindrical member. The front cap is configured for attachment to the cylindrical member. The cylindrical member is configured for attachment to the front cap and to receive the sound suppressor. An air gap is formed between an outer surface of the sound suppressor and an inner surface of the cylindrical member when the sound suppressor is at least partially received within the cylindrical member.

Cover system for sound suppressor

A sound suppressor having a housing and a baffle. The housing is integrally formed and has an outer surface, an inner surface, and a bore. The bore of the housing is defined by the inner surface of the housing and extends longitudinally. A serial number for the sound suppressor is provided on the outer surface of the housing. The baffle is removable from the housing and has an annulus. The annulus of the baffle is in communication with the inner surface of the housing when the baffle is at least partially disposed within the bore of the housing.

A baffle for a weapon silencer includes an annular wall that defines an axial passageway. The annular wall defines a first section located adjacent to a first axial end and in which the diameter of the axial passageway increases from a smallest diameter adjacent to the first axial end to a largest diameter. The annular wall defines a second section having a spiraled vane is formed on an exterior surface of the annular wall. The annular wall defines a third section that is located adjacent to the second axial end, the third section having a plurality of ports that extend radially through the annular wall to allow communication between the axial passageway and an exterior.

Weapon silencers and baffles for weapon silencers

A firearm muzzle silencer includes an elongated cylindrical body having a cylindrical bore, a firearm mounting end, and a projectile discharge end. At least one helical insert is positioned in the cylindrical bore and proximate to the firearm mounting end. The helical insert has an insert axial bore that extends through the helical insert and a spiral groove formed on an exterior of the helical insert to define a spiral path between the helical insert and the cylindrical bore. A chamber is defined in the elongated cylindrical body adjacent to the helical insert, and the helical insert is positioned between the chamber and the firearm mounting end. A plurality of ports is formed in the elongated cylindrical body adjacent to the spiral path, wherein the plurality of ports is in communication with the chamber via the spiral path.

The invention is an adapter and a method for securing a silencer/suppressor to the barrel of a firearm. The invention incorporates a uniformly deformable spring washer positioned within a cavity within the adapter. The cavity communicates with an opening in the silencer/suppressor into which the discharge end of the barrel of the firearm is fitted. As the silencer/suppressor is secured to the discharge end of the barrel of the weapon, the uniformly deformable spring washer is deformed uniformly, locking the silencer/suppressor together with the barrel of the weapon, and preventing the silencer/suppressor from separating from the barrel.

Apparatus and method for securing a suppressor to a weapon

A snap-on coupling for mounting accessories on the end of a cylindrical gun barrel characterized by its ability to be quickly operated. The gun barrel is provided with an annular groove axially spaced from the gun barrel end, and an adapter includes a bore receiving the gun barrel end region and radially displaceable ball detents in the adapter are received within the barrel groove upon radial alignment. A spring biased detent operator collar axially displaceably mounted on the adapter controls the radial position of the ball detents wherein manual axial displacement of the detent operating collar may be accomplished quickly with one hand. In an embodiment of the invention, a ball detent retainer sleeve within the adapter bore is automatically displaced by the gun barrel end upon placing the adapter on the gun barrel permitting the ball detents to be received within the barrel groove upon alignment, and the ball retainer sleeve eliminates the necessity of displacing the collar during insertion of the adapter on the gun barrel.

Snap-on firearm adapter

A coupling for removably mounting accessories on the end of a gun barrel wherein the gun barrel includes at least one lug spaced from the barrel end. A coupling adapter receives the gun barrel end and lugs and includes lug retaining recesses which receive the lugs upon relative rotation between the gun barrel and adapter occurring. A compressible spring located within the adapter biases an annular lug engaging sleeve wherein lug retention within the adapter recesses is maintained by the spring and only an axial movement of the adapter on the gun barrel is required to disengage the lug and its retaining recess to permit rotation of the adapter for quick adapter mounting and removal.

Bayonet type coupling for firearms

A silencer or noise suppressor for firearms consisting of an elongated body connected to the firearm muzzle into which the expanding gases and projectile are received. The expanding gases are initially received within a chamber and pass through ports defined in a deceleration plate into a chamber communicating with a plurality of baffles arranged in end-to-end relationship. The baffles each include a diverging bore through which the gases may expand, and externally, each baffle includes a spiral vane receiving the expanding and cooling gases. The vanes of adjacent baffles are in communication whereby gas back-pressure within portions of the vanes cause localized gas compression slowing gas expansion and the generation of audible frequencies.
