Methods and apparatus to monitor mobile devices are disclosed. A disclosed example method involves operating first and second wireless telephone device terminals. In the example method, the first wireless telephone device terminal includes a first media decoder configured to decode a first media encoding format and the second wireless telephone device terminal includes a second media decoder configured to decode a second media encoding format. The example method also involves receiving a first media presentation via the first wireless telephone device terminal and a second media presentation via the second wireless telephone device terminal. The first media presentation is encoded using the first media encoding format and the second media presentation is encoded using the second media encoding format. The first and second media presentations include substantially similar media content. The example method also involves generating a first reference signature of the first media presentation and a second reference signature of the second media presentation. The first reference signature is stored in association with first device identifier information indicative of the first wireless telephone device terminal. The second reference signature is stored in association with second device identifier information indicative of the second wireless telephone device terminal.

Methods and apparatus to monitor mobile devices

Various embodiments are directed to an application management framework for web applications that may provide speed improvements, capability improvements, user experience improvements, increased advertising profit opportunities, and simplified application development to wide range of network devices. The described embodiments may employ techniques for containing, controlling, and presenting multiple web-based applications in a shared web browser application management framework. Sharing a web browser application management framework provides the capability for rapidly switching between applications, allows for multitasking, facilitates using a common set of input controls for applications, and makes it possible for applications to be available with little perceived startup ('boot') time. The described embodiments also provide incentives for web application users, web application developers, web application portal providers, and web advertising providers to share in transactions between one another.

Application management framework for web applications

A computing device includes a display surface, a human interface feature, and processing resources. The human interface features enables a user of the computing device to enter a non-discrete directional input action. The processing resources execute to: (i) provide content on the display surface; (ii) detect the user performing the input action; (ii) determine a vector from the input action; and (iv) select a region of the display surface based on the vector.

Various embodiments are directed to a proxy system for implementing an automatic conversion schema which allows data results from a publishing application to be extracted and displayed by a display application other than the publishing application. In one embodiment, a proxy publisher may receive a request from a publishing application to retrieve a data result from a data server. The request may include a path to the data server and appended publishing parameters. In accordance with the automatic conversion schema, the publishing parameters may comprise decode parameters associated with the publishing application for allowing a display application other than the publishing application to decode variables of the data result and to transform the decoded variables for display. The proxy publisher may cache the request including the appended publishing parameters and retrieve the data result from the data server. The proxy publisher may locally store the data result along with the cached publishing parameters and may respond to a query from a display application for data associated with the publishing application by providing the cached data result and the publishing parameters to the display application. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

Automatic conversion schema for cached web requests

Web Applications run as software which is served through a portal or browser. However this precludes their use offline or when connectivity is not present. The present invention is a method for creating offline web applications and managing associated user data which is created offline and must later be reconciled with one or more central servers without a data collision. This allows the system to efficiently know which version of different pieces of user data are new and which need to be added to centralized servers. This method also applies to the actual web application program files so that software applications can be synchronized in addition to user data enabling a transparent online and offline user experience. The method described here also applies to mobile computing devices such as cellular telephones and personal digital assistants. A side benefit of the method introduced here is that data sets can be distributed in manner which allows peer to peer synchronization and filedata distribution. Lastly the method described herein minimizes the amount of transactional data required to synchronize data sets across a network thereby increasing efficiency of available bandwidth on a computer network using the system.

Method for synchronizing software application and user data for asynchronous client-server and peer to peer computer networks

A system and method is provided for wireless remote control of the operation of vehicle components such as a door lock or an entertainment system. An electronic host device, such as a PDA or a mobile telephone, is coupled to a vehicle-specific transponder, and a user interface program executed on the host device allows a user to select a desired vehicle component operating command for execution. The selected operating command is sent to the transponder for transmission to the vehicle, and a vehicle receiver forwards the selected command to the target component for execution. The transponder may contain vehicle-specific authorization information which the vehicle receiver may use to verify authorization to operate the vehicle. Additionally, information stored on the host device such as telephone numbers and addresses may be transferred via the transponder to vehicle components which may use such information for task such as navigation of initiating telephone calls.

Wireless vehicle control system and method

An audio amplifier with a digital input bus for both audio (48) and volume (47) level inputs is disclosed. Volume control is achieved by maintaining dynamic voltage supply rails (43) and (44) to an audio output controller block (45) at a fixed ratio of the maximum available supply voltages (40) and (41). This is accomplished by a volume level controller block (42). The audio output controller block accepts digital samples and converts the samples to analog voltages within the range of the volume rail voltages for the purpose of driving a audio frequency loudspeaker (46). Such a system has very high efficiency when compared with older Class A and AB designs and improves the ease of implementation of volume control over Class D designs. The system is easily distinguished from other designs using variable rail voltages because prior art designs used the rail voltage to track the audio output. The present invention varies the rail voltages for the purpose of controlling the volume of the output and as such relatively large voltages may exist between the output and the voltage supply rails. Also the present invention makes use of all digital inputs whereas prior art does not.
