Processes and apparatuses for separating chlorides from a butane product stream by removing chlorides from a portion of said feed stream in a rectification section of the separation zone. The rectification section may be in a rectification column which may be combined with a stripper column. Alternatively, a wall may be used to provide the rectification section in a fractionation column. The processes and apparatuses can be used in both new designs and revamped designs.

Processes and apparatuses for separating chlorides from n-butane

Processes for increasing an octane value of a gasoline component by dehydrogenating a stream comprising Chydrocarbons and methylcyclohexane in a first dehydrogenation zone to form an intermediate dehydrogenation effluent, and then dehydrogenating the intermediate dehydrogenation effluent in a second dehydrogenation zone to form a Cdehydrogenation effluent. The Cdehydrogenation effluent has an increased olefins content compared to an olefins content of the intermediate dehydrogenation effluent. The first dehydrogenation zone is operated under conditions to convert methylcyclohexane to toluene and minimize cracking reactions. The intermediate dehydrogenation effluent may be heated before being passed to the second dehydrogenation zone.

Processes for increasing an octane value of a gasoline component

A reforming process is described. The reforming process includes introducing a hydrocarbon stream comprising hydrocarbons having 5 to 12 carbon atoms into a reforming zone containing reforming catalyst, the reforming zone comprising at least two reformers, each reformer having a set of reforming operating conditions, to produce a reformate effluent, wherein the last reformer contains less catalyst than the next to the last reformer.

A process and apparatus for making aromatics are described. The process includes reforming a naphtha stream in a reforming zone to form a reformer effluent comprising aromatic compounds and non-aromatic compounds, wherein at least a portion of the aromatic compounds contain alkyl groups. The reformer effluent is heated and passed directly to an acid cracking reaction zone. The non-aromatic compounds are selectively cracked and at least a portion of the alkyl groups on the aromatic compounds are selectively dealkylated in the presence of an acid cracking catalyst to form a cracked reformer effluent comprising the aromatic compounds and cracked olefins.

Processes and apparatuses for producing a Caromatic isomer product are provided. The process comprises introducing a reformate stream comprising aromatic hydrocarbons to a reformate splitter column to provide a plurality of streams. One or more streams comprising at least one stream from the plurality of streams is passed to a reformate upgrading unit to obtain an upgraded reformate stream. The upgraded reformate stream is passed to an aromatics stripper column to provide an aromatics stripper sidedraw stream comprising Caromatic hydrocarbons. The aromatics stripper sidedraw stream is passed to a xylene separation unit to provide the Caromatic isomer product and a raffinate product stream. At least a portion of the raffinate product stream is processed in a liquid phase isomerization unit to obtain an isomerized stream.

Liquid phase isomerization process integration

A process is provided for separation of light olefins and paraffins and particular for the separation of propylene and propane comprising sending at least one olefin/paraffin stream to a distillation column and a membrane unit to produce an olefin stream comprising at least 92 mol % olefin. In an embodiment of the invention where the membrane unit is placed downstream from the column which can produce propylene streams at polymer grade of over 99.5 mol % propylene.

Method and system for light olefin separation

Processes and apparatuses for producing a Caromatic isomer product are provided. The apparatus comprises an isomerization unit to provide an isomerized stream. An isomerate stripper column is in communication with the isomerization unit to provide an isomerate stripper overhead stream comprising Chydrocarbons in an isomerate overhead line and an isomerate stripper bottoms stream in an isomerate bottoms line. A dividing wall naphthene splitter column is in communication with the isomerate bottoms line to provide an overhead naphthene splitter stream comprising the Cnaphthenes and Caromatic hydrocarbons in a naphthene splitter overhead line and a naphthene splitter sidedraw stream comprising Caromatic isomers in a naphthene splitter sidedraw line. An extractive distillation column is in communication with the naphthene splitter overhead line to provide a recycle feedstream comprising the Cnaphthenes in a recycle line and an extract stream comprising the Caromatic hydrocarbons in an extract line.

Processes and apparatuses for production of aromatic products

Apparatuses and methods are provided for forming C8 aromatic streams with selected amounts of C9 aromatics. In one embodiment, a method for forming a C8 aromatic stream with a selected amount of C9 aromatics includes fractionating a hydrocarbon stream including C8 and C9 aromatics into a sidedraw fraction and a bottom fraction. The sidedraw fraction includes a portion of the C8 aromatics and a portion of the C9 aromatics. The bottom fraction includes remaining C8 aromatics and C8hydrocarbons. The method further includes fractioning the bottom fraction and forming a heavy overhead fraction including the remaining C8 aromatics. Also, the method includes combining the sidedraw fraction and the heavy overhead fraction to form a combined stream having a C9 aromatics composition of from about 0.1 wt % to about 5 wt % about 2 wt % of a total weight of the combined stream.

Apparatuses and methods for forming C8 aromatic streams with selected amounts of C9 aromatics

A process for separating xylene from a feedstock in which the feedstock is separated into a xylene stream, a benzene rich stream and a light ends stream. Two separation zones may be utilized in which liquid from both is sent to a stabilization zone and the vapor from the stabilization zone is combined with a stream prior to the stream entering the second separation zone.

Process for recovering benzene and fuel gas in an aromatics complex

Methods and systems are provided for separating a selected xylene isomer. The method includes separating a feed stream including a plurality of aromatic hydrocarbons into a first stream including toluene and isomers of xylene, and a second stream including isomers of xylene. The method further includes separating the first stream into a third stream including toluene and a fourth stream including isomers of xylene. The method further includes combining the second stream and the third stream in an adsorptive separation unit including an adsorbent configured to adsorb the selected xylene isomer from the second stream. The third stream desorbs the selected xylene isomer to produce a fifth stream including the selected xylene isomer and toluene and a sixth stream including non-selected xylene isomers and toluene. Still further, the method includes separating the sixth stream into a seventh stream including the non-selected xylene isomers and the third stream including toluene.

Systems and methods for separating xylene isomers using selective adsorption

Methods and systems are provided for producing a desired xylene isomer. The method includes adsorbing the desired xylene isomer from a mixed xylene stream in an adsorbent chamber. The desired xylene isomer is desorbed with a desorbent to produce an extract stream with the desired xylene isomer and the desorbent, where the desorbent has a lower boiling point than the desired xylene isomer. The extract stream is fractionated in an extract fractionator to produce a low pressure extract overhead stream with gaseous desorbent. The low pressure extract overhead stream is pressurized to produce a high pressure extract overhead stream with a temperature greater than an extract reboiler temperature. The high pressure extract overhead stream is condensed in an extract process reboiler, and produces a liquid extract overhead stream.

Systems and methods for producing desired xylene isomers

A process for flushing the rounded top head and rounded bottom head of a vessel used in an adsorption process in which the rounded top head and the rounded bottom head of the vessel are flushed with a flush fluid. The extract stream from the adsorption process is split into a desorbent rich stream and desorbent lean steam. The flushing fluid is a fraction separated from a desorbent lean split of the extract stream.

Embodiments of processes for producing propylene from paraffins are provided. The process comprises the steps of combining an effluent that comprises propylene and propane from a paraffin dehydrogenation reactor with an offgas stream that comprises propane to form a combined effluent stream. The combined effluent stream is separated into a propylene product stream and a propane-rich recycle stream. The propane-rich recycle stream is introduced to the paraffin dehydrogenation reactor operating at dehydrogenation conditions to convert propane in the propane-rich recycle stream to propylene.

One previously unrecognized opportunity is through providing two parallel distillation columns operating at different pressures to separate Caromatics from C+ aromatics.
