A hearing screening system for testing hearing abilities of a patient includes an otoacoustic emission (OAE) module operable to perform OAE tests, a tympanometry (tymp) module operable to perform tymp tests, and at least one probe in communication with at least one of the OAE and tymp modules. The probe includes a probe tip that is configured to be positioned within an ear canal of a patient.

System and method for performing a hearing screening

A stimulus analysis system and artifact rejection method are disclosed. The method may be used in many applications, such as, for example, DPOAE testing, TEOAE testing, BAER testing, ultrasound, MRI, RADAR, GPS, EEG, EKG, or communications. In one embodiment, a system receives a signal, and depending on the noise power of the signal, the signal is placed in one of a plurality of buffers or is discarded. This process is repeated. The combination of buffers that yields the lowest noise power is then selected. The selected combination of buffers may then be used to calculate a signal to noise ratio, which may be used to determine whether the signal received is acceptable, indicating, for example, that a test has been passed or failed.

Stimulus analysis system and method having adaptive artifact rejection

A hearing test device and method are disclosed which involve the placement of a testing probe in the ear canal of a test subject. The device analyzes responses to stimuli applied to the ear canal to determine whether the testing probe has been properly placed in the ear canal. The device may determine, for example, whether the probe is stable, whether it is sealed in the ear canal, whether the resulting volume of the ear canal is acceptable, and/or whether the stimuli delivery system is blocked in any way. If the device determines that the testing probe has been properly placed in the ear canal, the device automatically starts a hearing test without requiring any operator input.

Hearing test apparatus and method having automatic starting functionality

A hearing test device and artifact rejection method are disclosed. The device and method may be used in, for example, distortion product otoacoustic emissions (DPOAE) testing. In one embodiment, the device presents a plurality of stimuli into the ear canal of a test subject, and receives responses from the ear canal.
