Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide a method for providing a grid regulation service, including: determining a preferred operating point for use with one or more grid regulation resources of a first type; determining a predicted regulation up capacity and a predicted regulation down capacity of the one or more grid regulation resources of the first type for the grid regulation service period; commencing the grid regulation service period based on an indication; performing a grid regulation service during the grid regulation service period by varying a power delivery rate of the one or more grid regulation resources of the first type; and enabling one or more grid regulation resources of a second type to participate in the grid regulation service during the grid regulation service period.

Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to virtualizing battery resources for grid service applications. In particular, some of these aspects provide a method for configuring a plurality of virtual energy storage devices in an energy storage device of a fixed energy storage system; and performing two or more grid services concurrently with two or more virtual energy storage devices of the plurality of virtual energy storage devices.

Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to a local energy management system (LEMS) at local mixed power generating sites for providing grid services and grid service applications. The LEMS generally serves as a local power control agent for facilitating energy management at the local site level by controlling and leveraging a plurality of local assets deployed at the local site, and combining a plurality of generated power from each site which acts as its own virtual power plant for delivering grid services to the grid. In addition, the LEMS has the ability to effectively handle and fulfill energy and electrical objectives of the grid services, including regulation or demand response objectives from the grid, by conveying operational set points that control the power charge and discharge at each local asset in order to meet those objectives.

Source radio frequency energy (RF) is coupled wirelessly, with no direct physical contact, between two compound loop (CPL) antennas across a variety of barriers such as plastic, human tissues, glass, and air. The compound coupling interface is highly efficient in transferring the RF energy from a source including one CPL antenna to a destination including a second CPL antenna. A re-radiating structure including a further CPL antenna or a different type of antenna may be connected on the destination side to completely physically isolate the source side from the destination side. When the destination coupling antenna is removed, the source coupling antenna may operate as an efficient radiator at the desired operating frequencies. Likewise, the destination coupling antenna may operate as an efficient radiator in the absence of the source coupling antenna.

Compound coupling to re-radiating antenna solution

A compound loop antenna (CPL) is described that includes a capacitively fed magnetic loop and/or a capacitively fed electric field radiator. Embodiments include single-band CPL antennas and multi-band CPL antennas. The CPL antennas have been reduced in physical size by capacitively feeding the loop and/or radiator. The embodiments include at least one e-field radiation element that is capacitively coupled or not capacitively coupled, at least one magnetic loop element that is capacitively coupled. A continuation of the magnetic loop may be continued with either a wire or a connection to a second layer.

An apparatus, system, and method manage a transmission antenna system by measuring an antenna performance indicator of an alternate antenna configuration during a reduced data rate transmission. After an antenna performance indicator is measured in a current (first) antenna system configuration, the antenna system is configured to an alternate (second) configuration during a reduced data rate transmission and the antenna performance indicator of the alternate (second) configuration is measured. The antenna performance indicators for both configurations are evaluated to determine the optimum antenna system configuration for transmission. If the alternate (second) configuration will result in decreased performance, the antenna system is changed back to the first antenna system configuration. Otherwise, the alternate (second) configuration is defined as the current configuration and the first antenna configuration is evaluated during reduced rate transmissions.

Architectures and implementations of a transceiver system for wireless communications are presented, the system including one or more antennas supporting a single frequency band or multiple frequency bands, a transmit circuit, a receive circuit, and an isolation circuit that is coupled to the one or more antennas and the transmit and receive circuits and provides adequate isolation between the transmit circuit and the receive circuit.

This document describes designs and techniques for directly feeding an unbalanced transmission line with a balanced antenna using Composite Right and Left Handed (CRLH) and balun structures. According to various examples, first and second radiating elements, first and second antenna structures, or first and second portions of an antenna structure can provide a left-handed (LH) mode resonance and a right-handed (RH) mode resonance. A feed port can provide an unbalanced signal, and a balun structure can be coupled to the first and second radiating elements, first and second antenna structures, or first and second portions of an antenna structure, to adapt the unbalanced signal from the feed port to a balanced signal for coupling to the first and second radiating elements, first and second antenna structures, or first and second portions of an antenna structure.
