A rail segment for a rotating assembly of a machine is provided. The rail segment includes a first surface configured to face a support structure of the machine. The rail segment further includes a second surface configured to face a roller of the rotating assembly. The second surface includes an arcuate shape along a circumferential direction with respect to a rotation axis of the rotating assembly. Furthermore, the second surface is substantially parallel along a radial direction with respect to the rotation axis of the rotating assembly.

Rotating assembly for machine

Equipment for mining and excavating includes a bucket used to remove overburden, a boom for positioning the bucket, and a hoist and drag cable for controlling the bucket. The equipment also includes a drum; a pedestal, a pinion assembly, and a cartridge assembly. The drum is used to wind the hoist cable or the drag cable. The pedestal supports the drum and surrounds a bull gear attached to the drum. A pinion of the pinion assembly extends within a port in the pedestal to engage the bull gear. The cartridge assembly is attached to the pedestal and includes an electric motor having a shaft extending from the motor, and a gear reduction coupled to the motor shaft. The pinion assembly is driven by the motor via the gear reduction. The pedestal allows the pinion assembly and other components to be removed or installed, without entirely separating the cartridge assembly from the pedestal.

Hoist and drag system for mining

A swing drive assembly for use with a mining shovel having a frame rotatable relative to a base, wherein the swing drive assembly is fixed to the frame and engages a ring gear fixed to the base to rotatably drive the mining shovel frame relative to the mining shovel base. The assembly includes a swing girder having a top wall and bottom wall joined by a back wall. At least one strut having a top end extends upwardly from the top wall, and an attachment point is proximal said strut top end for fixing the swing drive assembly to the frame. At least one attachment point is proximal one end of the top wall, and at least one attachment point is proximal an opposing end of the top wall, wherein the girder is fixable to a mining shovel frame at each of the attachment points. Preferably, each attachment point is fixed to the mining shovel frame with at least one bolt. Most preferably, the swing girder is mounted to the frame, and hangs below the frame to engage the ring gear.

Swing drive assembly

A roller circle for hoisting and excavating equipment has upper and lower spaced annular rails. A plurality of tapered rollers are disposed between the rails in rolling contact with bearing surfaces of the rails. Each of the rollers is mounted on a shaft. Inner and outer cages connect the projecting ends of the shafts and are joined together by through rods. A portion of the inner cage overlies a side face of a rail and a pad is disposed between the inner cage portion and the side of the rail. A second pad is disposed between the outer cage and the larger ends of the rollers. Thrust loads are transferred from the rollers to the outer cage and through the rods to the inner cage and then to the rail.
