A method updates a digital system in a vehicle having an onboard client computer that communicates with a remote server, an onboard monitor-control unit operatively connected to the onboard client computer, and an electrical energy accumulator device for powering the onboard client computer and the onboard monitor-control unit. The method includes downloading a file from the remote server using the onboard client computer as long as the electrical energy accumulator device is capable of being recharged. Then at least part of the file that was downloaded is distributed to the onboard monitor-control unit using the onboard client computer. Then, all or a portion of the at least part of the file that was distributed is installed in the onboard monitor-control unit. Then the at least part of the file that was installed is activated after stopping the vehicle using the onboard monitor-control unit.

Method for updating a digital system

Embodiments are directed to gesture recognition in a computing device. Touch-based input by the user is monitored based on an output from a touch sensor. Gestures are directed from among the touch-based input. The detected gestures are analyzed to assign gesture characteristic profiles to the detected gestures according to profiling criteria. A sequential event log is tabulated representing counts of series of gestures based on assigned characteristic profiles and on temporal sequencing of the gestures. Circumstances for invocation of gesture detection re-calibration are assessed based on the tabulated series of gestures.

Touch gesture detection assessment

A microprocessor has a low-power mode and a non-low power mode. The microprocessor includes a processor core for executing instructions provided to the microprocessor and a clock providing a clock signal, which in the non-low power mode has a first frequency and in the low power mode has a second frequency lower than the first frequency. A hardware timer is present, for scheduling an execution of an event by the microprocessor at a future point in time. The hardware timer is connected to the clock for determining a period of time between a current point in time and a point in time the event based on a number of clock cycles of the clock signal. A timer controller can determine, when the data processing system switches from the low power mode to the non-low power mode, a number of clock cycles of a clock signal with the first frequency that corresponds to a low-power mode period during which the microprocessor has been in the low power mode and adjusting the hardware timer based on the determined number.
