A golf bag includes a body attached at one end thereof to a top member and at the other end thereof to a bottom member. A shoulder strap has an upper end located near the top member and a lower end located intermediate the top and bottom members. A mechanism urges the shoulder strap into a retracted position but allows movement of the shoulder strap from the retracted position into an extended position. The mechanism may include an elastic cord, an anchor connecting the elastic cord to the bottom member, and a ring connecting the elastic cord to an extension on the upper end of the shoulder strap.

A golf bag has a generally tubular body and a dual shoulder strap assembly for supporting the golf bag on both shoulders of a golfer. The dual shoulder strap assembly includes first and second shoulder straps, and a lower end of the first shoulder strap is received in and connected to a pocket on the body. An elongated plate is located within the lower end of the first shoulder strap so that an upper portion of the first shoulder strap is formed into a loop that extends generally laterally from the body in a standing position to make it easier for a golfer to identify which shoulder strap should be grasped first when preparing to lift the golf bag and carry it.

A golf bag with a generally tubular body has a shoulder strap which allows a golfer to pick up the golf bag from the ground without bending over. The body has an open top end and an annular groove spaced from the open top end. A lower end of the shoulder strap is positioned within the annular groove, and a pair of attachment straps extend from the lower end of the shoulder strap. The attachment straps are disposed within the annular groove when they are wrapped around the body in opposite directions. A buckle connects the attachment straps to each other so that the shoulder strap is held in a standing position where it extends laterally from the body. Stiffener means may be provided at the lower end of the shoulder strap to maintain the shoulder strap in the standing position.

A pocket assembly is removably attached to a generally tubular body of a golf bag. The pocket assembly includes a receptacle with a pair of pockets for holding golf accessories. An upstanding rib is formed on the body, and spring clips are provided on the receptacle for gripping engagement with the rib to position the pocket assembly at a selected location on the body. When the pocket assembly is attached to the body, the receptacle straddles the rib and the pockets are disposed on opposite sides of the rib. The spring clips may be disengaged from the rib so that the pocket assembly may be removed from the body and relocated to another selected location on the body. Straps attached to the spring clips are wrapped around the body, and hook and loop fasteners are used to fasten the straps together.

Removable and repositionable pocket assembly for golf bags

The clasp for use with an adjustable length strap of the type used on a golf bags, back packs and the similar articles includes a housing having a open passage and a blind compartment in stacked relationship with respect to each other and a hinged lid overlays the blind compartment. The strap has a first end fixedly attached to the article and is positioned to slidably extend through the open passage of the clasp. The free end of the strap is looped through a ladder-lock buckle or similar device carried on the article, and the looped-over portion of the strap is placed in juxtaposed overlaying relationship with the main portion of the strap, and the free end of the strap is placed in the compartment of the clasp and held therein by closing of the hinged lid. Adjustment of the strap to a desired length is accomplished by sliding movement of the strap through the ladder-lock buckle so as to either increase or decrease the length of the main portion of the strap and this is accomplished without disturbing the clasp in that the strap is slidably movable through the passage formed in the clasp.

A head cover for covering a head and an adjacent shaft portion of a golf club including an outer sleeve and an inner liner each of which has a generally tubular configuration with a closed upper end and open bottom end. The open bottom ends of the outer sleeve and the inner liner are sewn together with an inverted V-shaped slot extending from the open bottom ends toward the closed upper ends thereof. The longitudinal dimension of the inner liner is less than the longitudinal dimension of the outer sleeve to provide a gap between the closed upper ends of the inner liner and the outer sleeve. When installed on a golf club, the head of the golf club pushes the closed upper end of the inner liner into engagement with the closed upper end of the outer sleeve closing the gap and partially closing the open bottom end of the inner liner. This closes the inverted V-shaped slots in the outer sleeve and the inner liner. The golf club head cover may be provided with a detachable identification tag.

A golf bag having a seat assembly upon which a golfer may sit to rest. When the golfer desires to sit down, a specially configured storage pocket is opened, and a generally U-shaped support rod is moved from a retracted position to an extended position so that a foldable seat, preferably made of fabric, is in a taut stretched condition adjacent a top end of the storage pocket. The foldable seat is attached to a bight portion of the generally U-shaped support rod and is in a folded condition when the support rod is in its retracted position.

A support stand for use with a golf bag having a body with an open upper end includes a housing mounted on the body. The housing has spaced apart diverging channels formed therein. A pair of support assemblies, each having an arm, are pivotally mounted in the channels for movement between retracted and extended positions. A leg is connected to each arm. The support assemblies are spring loaded to urge them into the retracted position, and a cam lever is pivotally mounted on the housing. When the cam lever is depressed into actuating engagement with the arms, the support assemblies are moved into their extended positions and the legs support the body in a propped-up position.

A golf bag includes a container and a stand. The container has an elongated body which defines an interior space for receiving golf clubs, and a partition member disposed inside the body divides the interior space into a plurality of individual compartments. A throat member is attached to an upper end of the body, and a hinge connects a base member to a lower end of the body. The hinge permits pivoting movement of the body relative to the base member from an upright position to an inclined position. During this pivoting movement of the body, a lower edge on the body lower end moves toward an upper edge on the base member. When the body is in its upright position, a wedge-shaped gap is formed between the lower edge on the body lower end and the upper edge on the base member. The wedge-shaped gap is closed as the body moves from its upright position to its inclined position. A stand, which includes a pair of legs pivotally connected to the throat member, supports the body in its inclined position.

A double strap system for golf bags includes a first shoulder strap having upper and lower ends attached to a generally tubular body of a golf bag at first and second locations, respectively. In one embodiment of the double strap system, the lower end of the first shoulder strap is connected to a buckle and slide mechanism which is provided for relocating the second location in a direction that is generally parallel to a length dimension of the golf bag body. A second shoulder strap has opposite ends attached to the golf bag body at third and fourth locations that are spaced apart in another direction that is generally transverse to the body length dimension. In an alternative embodiment of the double strap system, the lower end of the first shoulder strap may be connected to either one of a pair of attachment devices mounted on the golf bag body to thereby relocate the second location.
