An annular pressure activated downhole tool has a housing including an outer surface, an inner surface defining a passage, an annular projection projecting into the passage from the inner surface, and an opening. A mandrel extends into the passage. The mandrel has a first end and a second end. A power spring support is detachably connected to the second end of the mandrel in the passage. A power spring is arranged about the mandrel and extends between the power spring support and the annular projection. A trigger housing is arranged in one of the mandrel and the power spring support. A trigger arranged in the trigger housing selectively engages with the inner surface. The trigger is operable to disengage from the inner surface of the housing, releasing the power spring, and shifting the mandrel along the passage when exposed to a selected annular pressure.

Annular pressure activated downhole tool

A downhole tool including a mandrel having a first surface, and opposing second surface defining a flow path, a lock support zone provided one of the first and second surfaces, and a passage extending between the flow path and the first surface. A tool is supported on one of the first and second surfaces. A sleeve is selectively shiftable on the one of the first and second surfaces into engagement with the tool. The sleeve includes a first surface portion and a second surface portion. The second surface portion includes a latch section. A lock system is arranged between the first surface and the second surface portion in the lock support zone. The lock system includes a lock member selectively supporting a lock element in the latch section. The lock element constrains movement of the sleeve.

Interlock for a downhole tool

A method of activating an anchor supported by a tubular in a wellbore having a casing tubular. The method includes introducing an activation force to an anchor setting system to release a biasing element arranged in a slip supported by a housing of the anchor. The biasing element is preloaded by a tensioning member arranged in an internal chamber of the anchor.

A method of performing a well bore operation in a well bore includes connecting a window mill to a whipstock connector forming a tubular section, supporting a tool below the whipstock connector, running the window mill, the whipstock connector, and the tool into the well bore, and axially loading the tool to perform the well bore operation.

A disposable setting tool includes a housing having a first end, a second end, and an intermediate portion having an outer surface and an inner surface defining a passage. A piston assembly is arranged in the passage. The piston assembly including a first piston portion and a second piston portion that extends axially outwardly of the second end of the housing. The first piston portion includes a first end portion, a second end portion, and an intermediate section having an outer surface portion and an inner surface portion that extends between the first end portion and the second end portion. The inner surface portion defines a pressure passage. An atmospheric chamber is defined between the inner surface of the housing and the outer surface portion of the piston assembly.

Disposable setting tool for wellbore operations

A window cutting system includes a whipstock connector including an inner surface having at least one projection. A window mill is connected to the whipstock connector. The window mill includes a body having a connector member, a tip portion, a recess formed on an outer surface of the body, an axial passage extending from the connector member toward the tip portion and a radial passage extending outwardly from the axial passage. A pin is arranged in the radial passage and selectively extending into the recess.

A window cutting system includes a window mill having a body including a connector member, a tip portion, and a plurality of blades arranged between the connector member and the tip portion. Each of the plurality of blades supports a plurality of cutting elements. A lug pocket is formed in at least one of the plurality of blades adjacent the plurality of cutting elements. A whipstock connector detachably coupled to the window mill. The whipstock connector including an outer surface and an inner surface, and at least one lug projecting radially inwardly from the inner surface. The at least one lug is selectively received by the lug pocket to connect the whipstock connector to the window mill.

An anchor setting system includes a housing having an outer surface, and an anchor including a slip shiftably mounted to the outer surface of the housing, the slip including an internal chamber. A biasing element is arranged in the internal chamber of the slip. The biasing element is operable to shift the slip along the outer surface of the housing.

An anchor setting system having redundant setting methodologies including a housing having an internal chamber. The housing has an outer surface, an inner surface, a first end, and a second end. A slip is shiftably mounted to the outer surface of the housing. A piston assembly including a piston element is arranged in the housing. The piston element includes a conduit and is shiftably mounted in the internal chamber. An activator is mounted to the piston assembly. The activator selectively shifts the slip axially along the housing in response to movement of the piston element.

Casing exit anchor with redundant setting system

A frac plug system, downhole tool and method of securing a frac plug system in a wellbore in a formation. A mandrel includes a first end and a second end. A setting assembly is coupled to the mandrel at the first end, and an anchor is arranged at the second end of the mandrel and receptive to the setting assembly. The anchor is settable to engage the wellbore. A bottom sub is arranged at the second end of the mandrel and includes a first member movable relative to the mandrel. A gas generates a pressure to shift the first member along the mandrel to move the anchor against the setting assembly, securing the setting assembly in the wellbore via radial deployment of the anchor. The mandrel is separated from the bottom sub to leave the setting assembly and the anchor in the wellbore.

Frac plug system with integrated setting tool

A frac plug system downhole tool and method of securing a frac plug system in a wellbore. A mandrel extending from a first end to a second end. A setting assembly is on the first end of the mandrel and is movable along the mandrel. An anchor is at the second end of the mandrel and is expandable to engage the wellbore. A gas generates a pressure to move the setting assembly along the mandrel to expand the anchor at the second end of the mandrel.

A retrievable in-flow control device (ICD) including a device body having a first end, a second end, an outer surface extending between the first end and the second end, and an internal flow path. A wireline connector is arranged at the first end. A latch mechanism is provided on one of the wireline connector and the device body. A flow control port extends through the outer surface to the internal flow path. An equalizer member including a first flow path for passing a first fluid and a second flow path for resisting flow of a second fluid. The retrievable ICD also includes a flow control device establishes a selected pressure drop of the first fluid through the retrievable ICD.

Modular side pocket ICD

A BHA features an MWD tool connected to a running tool supporting a whipstock that is connected to an open hole anchor. The anchor is flow set and after the anchor is set the running tool collets release from the whipstock to allow cement to be pumped through the anchor to hold the set position. The collets are released from the whipstock also with flow and after the anchor has been set. One way is to use nozzles in series. Another is to run in with a ball on the anchor seat, set the anchor and blow out the ball seat so flow can again be used to release the running tool collets. Another is suspending a ball above the anchor seat, releasing the ball with pressure cycle, open another flow passage to allow collet release of the whipstock. Finally, pressure can be used to release the running tool collets.

Hydraulically set open hole whipstock

A method and apparatus for controlling fluid flow through a drill string includes a housing having an axis, a radial wall with a bore extending axially therethrough, and an aperture formed in the radial wall. The aperture is in fluid communication with the bore. A piston is located inside the housing and has an orifice configured to permit axial fluid flow through the housing. The spring axially biases the piston to a closed position.
