A child resistant zipper closure for a plastic bag includes a double slider, including a first slider and second slider. The first and second sliders are oriented on the zipper closure such that when at least one of the first slider and second slider is moving in a direction toward the other of the first slider and second slider, the zipper is interlocking; and when at least one of the first slider and second slider is moving in a direction away from the other of the first slider and second slider, the zipper is unlocking. The first and second sliders can be releasably connected together.

A child resistant zipper closure for a plastic bag includes a double slider, including a first slider and second slider. A reclosable bag includes first and second side edges and a double zipper, which includes first zipper with first side seal adjacent the first side edge and second side seal adjacent the second side edge. The double zipper includes second zipper having third side seal adjacent the first side edge, and fourth side seal adjacent to the second side edge. One of the first side seal and third side seal has an end that is spaced closer to the second side edge than the other. A method for providing a sensory indication of double sealing in a reclosable bag includes closing a mouth by pressing opposing fingers against first and second zipper closures and moving opposing fingers linearly across the closures until there is a sensory indication of an end seal for each of the first and second zipper closures at different linear locations.

Reclosable double zipper and methods

The present invention relates to a film structure and a method of manufacturing the same. More specifically, the film structure may include a barrier material made from EVOH, nylon or other thermally sensitive barrier material encapsulated by a first adhesive material. The barrier material and the first adhesive material form a barrier layer and a first set of adhesive layers when coextruded. The barrier layer and the first set of adhesive layers may be coextruded at the same or a similar temperature to form a first extrudate. The extrudate may be encapsulated by or otherwise coextruded with a second adhesive material to form a second extrudate at a higher temperature than the first extrudate that then may be formed into a flat sheet via a die. The first set of adhesive layers protects the barrier layer from high temperatures and long residence times related to the coextrusion/lamination process that may degrade the barrier layer. In addition, acid terpolymer consisting of ethylene/methyl acrylate/acrylic acid adheres a barrier material of EVOH to outer layers of the film structure.

Encapsulated barrier for flexible films and a method of making the same

A resealable slider closure mechanism includes a first closure profile, a second closure profile, a slider, and a plow. The plow is a separate piece that is attached to the slider at a later time. The plow has an attachment peg extending from it, while the slider has a cavity adapted to receive the attachment peg. The attachment peg is press-fitted, snap-fitted, or welded into the cavity. Alternatively, the plow has a tongue instead of an attachment peg while the slider has a groove instead of a cavity adapted to receive the tongue. The tongue is press-fitted, snap-fitted, or welded into the groove. The slider and the plow are designed to receive the first and second closure profiles, to slide along the first and second closure profiles in a first direction to cause the first and second closure profiles to engage, and to slide along the first and second closure profiles in a second direction to cause the first and second closure profiles to disengage. Furthermore, a plow for use with a closure arrangement having first and second closure profiles includes first and second side walls that are tapered at one end to cause the first and second closure profiles to engage.

Resealable slider closure mechanism with separate plow

A package includes a surrounding wall enclosing a containment region and a spout. The spout is movable relative to the surrounding wall between a retracted position and a protracted position. A first resealable closure mechanism is secured to the spout for selectively opening and closing communication between the mouth of the spout and the containment region. In another embodiment, a second resealable closure mechanism is secured around an outer periphery of the spout mouth, when the spout is in the protracted position. When the spout is moved into the retracted position, the second resealable closure mechanism is along the interior of the mouth and allows the mouth to be selectively opened and closed. In another embodiment, a peelable seal is secured to the spout arrangement for providing a hermetic seal. Methods for constructing and using a package having a pour spout are described.

Resealable spout for side-gusseted packages

Closure arrangements for use with flexible packages include a zipper-type closure, which, after initial sealing, if access is gained to a package interior, the arrangements provide evidence of that access. In certain embodiments, a closure with mating male and female profiles is used which, after initial sealing of the package, if access is desired to the package interior, one of the male or female profiles breaks, to prevent a resealing of the package. In other embodiments, after initial mating of the male and female closure profiles in order to seal the package, if access is desired to the package interior, the package walls are torn in order to gain access. In other embodiments, after initial sealing of the package by mating of the male and female profiles, if access is desired to the package interior, the male and female profiles are deformed, such that they no longer mate to provide a secure closure. Methods for using the arrangements herein are also provided.

Tamper-evident closure arrangements and methods

A resealable closure mechanism includes a matable section, slider-parking section, first closure profile, second closure profile, and a slider. The first and second closure profiles have a base strip and an interlocking closure member. In the matable section, the interlocking closure members each extend a first length respective of their base strips sufficient to selectively engage. In the slider-parking section, the interlocking closure members are truncated relative to the first length. The slider has a second length greater than the distance of the slider-parking section.

Leakproof resealable slider closure mechanism

The present invention addresses the need to effectively heat seal various polymeric materials to each other. The invention is particularly useful in solving the problems associated with sealing dissimilar materials together. A bonded polymer structure and method for preparing the structure are provided. The bonded polymer structure comprises a first polymeric panel, a second polymeric panel, and a one layer adhesive or two layer adhesive structure which binds them together. The two layer adhesive structure comprises a tie layer and a sealant layer disposed between the first polymeric panel and the second polymeric panel, the tie layer contacting the first polymeric panel and the sealant layer, and the sealant layer contacting the layer and the inner side of the second polymeric panel. A closure arrangement may be integrally formed with the first polymeric panel. The first polymeric panel may consist of such compounds as polyethylene, polypropylene, copolymers of polyethylene and polypropylene, and physical mixtures thereof. The second polymeric panel may consist of such compounds as polyethylene, polypropylene and mixtures thereof, polyester, and polystyrene. An appropriate adhesive is utilized to seal the two panels depending on the composition of the second panel.

Adhesive structure for heat sealing

The present invention sets forth a profile sealing strip having a lateral flange and a sealant layer. The lateral flange includes a first section, a second section, and a middle section being disposed between and connected to the first and second sections. The closure portion has a base connected to the middle sections and protruding beyond the upper surfaces of the first and second sections. The structure of the sealant layer and the lateral flange are modified so as to reduce the curl experienced during the cooling process after the lateral flange and the sealant layer are attached to one another.

Minimal curl sealing flange

A method of thermally splicing a first zipper to a second zipper, and the thermally formed splice produced by this method, are provided. The first and second zippers each include a male profile and a female profile adapted to interlock with each other. The splice is prepared by thermally fusing an end section of the male profile of the first zipper to an end section of the male profile of the second zipper and thermally fusing an end section of the female profile of the first zipper to an end section of the female profile of the second zipper. Alternatively, the splice can be prepared by thermally fusing the end sections of two closed zippers. The male profile of each zipper includes a male locking member, and the female profile of each zipper includes a female locking member. To provide substantial continuity between the male locking members of the first and second zippers and between the female locking members of the first and second zippers, a notch is formed in the end section of the male profile of the first zipper and the end section of the female profile of one of the first and second zippers prior to thermally fusing the end sections of the two zippers.
