An infusion port for subcutaneous placement and dialysis procedures is shown and described as including two chambers, two corresponding large area membrane access panels, and two corresponding barbs providing access between the infusion port and a patient's blood circulatory system. A valve selectively couples the chambers and the barbs in one state, and in another state isolates the barbs and couples directly the two chambers. The valve can operate externally by pressure applied to patient's skin. Hemodialysis is performed in the first state, and in the second state the port is flushed clean of residual blood by injecting cleansing fluid into one chamber and withdrawing it from the other. Also disclosed, an access needle includes a tube carrying a removable penetration pin. The tube fluidly couples to an external barb. The needle is fluidly coupled to the infusion port by driving the needle through the skin of the patient and membrane of the infusion port.

Hemodialysis infusion port and access needle

A hemostasis pressure pad band is shown and described including a controllably adjustable band for tightening about a patient's limb and a needle site contacting pad which bears against a needle site at the time of needle removal to prevent bleeding therefrom. The pad includes a pair of cheek formations which define a channel along and in which a graft is positioned prior to needle removal. The channel formation may further include a ridge formation of its base and along its length which further defines side channels for better permitting circulation while engaging the needle site. The pad also includes a notch formation at one end of the channel for accommodating the inclined needle at the needle site prior to its removal.

A flexible peritoneal catheter device for dialysis comprising a ductwork of multiple tubes enclosed within a fluid permeable envelope structure, the tubes having holes therein for fluid flow and the envelope structure having slit shaped holes therein to allow fluid flow but discouraging tissue adherence.

Peritoneal catheter device for dialysis

A subcutaneous access device for connection to a peritoneal dialysis catheter which includes an elongate housing having a needle-impervious outer shell forming the sides and bottom of the housing. The housing further includes a top expanse which is connected at its periphery to the outer shell and is composed of a needle-permeable and self-sealing material. The expanse has an expansive flat presentation region which extends substantially the length and breath of the housing. A hollow central chamber, disposed intermediate the top expanse and the bottom of the shell, extends the length of the housing. A fitting projects outwardly from the housing and is positioned to accommodate connection with an implanted peritoneal dialysis catheter.
