An approach to remotely and noninvasively detect and evaluate the response of a plant or plant population to a man-made or natural treatment regime (e.g., herbicide, fungicide or fertilizer treatment) via spectral imaging methods and systems comprising the capture of a plurality of spectral images for a common plant scene, each associated with a selected wavelength region of the electromagnetic spectrum, the formulation of an index function from the spectral information indicative of the plant response over time, and the assessment of mathematical parameters quantifying the time-varying plant response to the treatment regime. The plant response to a treatment regime may be quantified in illustrative embodiments in a fraction of the time previously required by many conventional approaches. Applying varying herbicide dosages to segments of the same plant population enables easy determination of a dose-response curve.

Spectral imaging and analysis for remote and noninvasive detection of plant responses to herbicide treatments

An approach to noninvasively and remotely detect the presence, location, and/or quantity of a target substance in a scene via a spectral imaging system comprising a spectral filter array and image capture array. For a chosen target substance, a spectral filter array is provided that is sensitive to selected wavelengths characterizing the electromagnetic spectrum of the target substance. Elements of the image capture array are optically aligned with elements of the spectral filter array to simultaneously capture spectrally filtered images. These filtered images identify the spectrum of the target substance. Program instructions analyze the acquired images to compute information about the target substance throughout the scene. A color-coded output image may be displayed on a smartphone or computing device to indicate spatial and quantitative information about the detected target substance. The system desirably includes a library of interchangeable spectral filter arrays, each sensitive to one or more target substances.

A system for generating optimized values for variable inputs to an animal production system. The system includes a simulator engine configured to receive a plurality of animal information inputs and generate a performance projection. At least one of the animal information inputs is designated as a variable input. The system further includes an enterprise supervisor engine configured to generate first and second optimized values for the at least one variable input. The first optimized value is generated based on an optimization criteria and the second optimized value is generated based on empirical feedback after application of the first variable input.

The system comprises a simulator engine configured to generate a set of animal requirements in view of environmental nutrients received by an animal based on characteristics of the animal and a formulator engine configured to receive the set of animal requirements and generate an optimized animal feed formulation based on the animal requirements.
