A watchband has a flexible outer band with hook-and-loop fasteners (e.g., Velcro) on its inner surface, and a flexible inner band with complementary hook-and-loop fasteners on its outer surface. The fasteners on the inner band removably engage the fasteners on the outer band to fasten the watchband about the wearer's wrist. The outer band includes an outer layer of decorative material, a layer of hook-and-loop fastener material on its inner surface covered by the decorative material, and a thin flexible plastic strip coated with adhesive that bonds the decorative material to the fastener material. This construction permits the outer band to be easily trimmed to a desired length to form a continuous band around the wearer's wrist with the ends of the outer band abutting each other. Similarly, the inner band can be easily trimmed to a desired length so that the outer band substantially conceals the inner band when fastened around the wearer's wrist.

A compass assembly comprising a base, a dial member received in a recessed portion of the base and rotatable relative the base about a dial member central longitudinal axis, and a compass housing received in a recessed portion of the dial member and fixedly secured to the base by a connecting disk. The disk has a first surface attached to the housing and a second surface attached to the base and a peripheral edge surface positioned in frictionally engaging contact with the dial member. The dial member is biased against rotation relative the base and the compass housing by the disk.

An attachable beverage coaster for use particularly in a moving vehicle or the like for stably supporting a beverage container of the type having a recessed bottom surface and an annular bottom support surface circumscribing the recessed bottom surface on a flat base surface such as a table top, comprising: resilient, slip-resistant, relatively flat container support disk having a top surface and a bottom surface for abuttingly engaging the annular bottom support surface of the beverage container at the top surface thereof and for abuttingly engaging the base surface at the bottom surface thereof for supporting the container on the base surface in substantially nonslipping, nontouching relationship with the base surface; suction cup fixedly attached to a central portion of the contained support disk and extending upwardly from the top surface of the disk for selectively holdingly engaging the recessed bottom surface of the container; an attachment device for fixedly attaching the suction cup to the container support disk.

The underwater thermometer includes a transparent block, preferably formed of an acrylic plastic, having a planar rear surface provided with a longitudinal recess adapted to receive a fluid and tube type temperature indicator, with an enlargement at one end of the recess for receiving the bulb of the indicator. The indicator is adhesively attached to a foam pad, in turn adhesively secured to a flat, transparent layer, corresponding in shape to the planar rear surface of the block and adhered by a transparent adhesive, preferably an acrylic adhesive, to the rear surface of the block. The transparent layer is also provided, on its rear side, with one or more temperature scales and other indicia printed in reverse and visible through the transparent block, at least a portion of the front of which, such as the portion overlying the recess, is parallel to the planar rear surface. A second layer, preferably formed of a polyester plastic, but opaque, is adhered, as by an acrylic adhesive, to the rear side of the transparent layer. The transparent layer is adhered to the rear of the block by pressure, such as exerted by a roller, which squeezes out all air bubbles from the adhesive, the adhesive layer being thereby reduced to a thickness on the order of 0.001 inch. The opaque layer is similarly secured by adhesive and squeezing to the rear of the transparent layer. Each of the block and transparent and opaque layers may be provided at one end with a hole through which a cord is looped, for attachment of the underwater thermometer to the wrist or other portion of equipment of the user.
