Approaches are disclosed for providing path diversity in a data transmission network. A primary transmission path can be selected through a network, such as a backbone network, based on factors such as cost of transmission. At least one waypoint can be selected that is to be included in a secondary transmission path. The waypoint(s) can be selected such that the secondary transmission path will have few, if any, network components in common with the primary transmission path, providing significant path diversity. The waypoint(s) can be selected based on a cost ratio or other such factor. In the event of a failure of transmission of a data packet over one of the transmission paths, a second transmission attempt can be performed using the same path or the other transmission path, or both.

Reliable packet delivery through path diversification

Systems and methods are described to enable delivery of streaming content while inhibiting or preventing removal, blocking, or skipping of portions within that streaming content. A content delivery system can generate a manifest indicating content portions that form the streaming content. Each content portion can be identified in the manifest using a concealed identifier, which conceals the actual identifier of the content portion from the client to inhibit or prevent the client from automatically removing or modifying the content portion. On receiving a request for a content portion, the content delivery system can convert the concealed identifier into the actual identifier, and return the appropriate content portion to the client. In some instances, the specific identifiers included within a concealed manifest may be modified or adapted based on monitoring information of the client device, to ensure clients view given portions of streaming content.

Protecting content-stream portions from modification or removal

Techniques are described enabling users to transfer the association of a cloud-managed video encoding or decoding device from one region of a cloud provider network to another. A video processing service of a cloud provider network enables users to purchase video encoding or decoding devices that can be used to encode and reliably transfer video content to the video processing service from locations of the users' choice. The video processing service receives a request to transfer the association of a video encoding or decoding device from one region of the cloud provider to another and the video processing service executes workflows that enable the association of a video encoding or decoding device to be transferred to one region from another.

Transferring video encoding or decoding devices across regions of a cloud provider network

An apparatus having a device of a user and a computer is disclosed. The computer may be configured to (i) transfer a manifest to the device in response to a viewing session being opened. The manifest generally has a plurality of modified links to a plurality of bitrates of a video content. Each one of the modified links may include an identifier that is unique to the viewing session. The computer may also be configured to (ii) receive a particular one of the modified links from the device, (iii) log a presence of the viewing session, and (iv) generate a request by removing the identifier from the particular modified link.

Unique user session tracking in adaptive bitrate video delivery

A system for managing delivery of video content. The system includes a controller and one or more players. The controller may be configured to control generation of a plurality of streams containing the video content based upon feedback regarding decoding at least one of the plurality of streams. The one or more players may be configured to select a stream from the plurality of streams, generate decoding statistics for the selected stream, and send the decoding statistics to the controller as the feedback.

Methods, systems, and computer-readable media for monitoring of media pipeline health using tracing are disclosed. At a plurality of stages of a media delivery pipeline, tracing metadata is generated for elements of a media stream. The tracing metadata comprises a content identifier, a segment identifier, and a stage identifier. The tracing metadata is generated from the plurality of stages and sent to a metadata repository using instrumentation of components that implement the plurality of stages. A problematic stage within the plurality of stages is identified based at least in part on analysis of the tracing metadata.

Monitoring of media pipeline health using tracing

A method for invalidating content segments of a bitstream. The method comprises a step of delivering a manifest file from an origin server to a content delivery network. The manifest file may have a time-to-live value and may be redelivered based on the time-to-live value. The method comprises a step of delivering one or more content segments from the origin server to the content delivery network. The manifest file may contain pointers to the content segments. The method comprises a step of modifying the manifest file at the origin server to include invalidation information based on an input signal. The method comprises a step of invalidating the content segments throughout the content delivery network based on the invalidation information.

Content delivery network video content invalidation through adaptive bitrate manifest manipulation

The first module may be configured to receive video and audio content and process the video and audio content for distribution with video and audio encoding to various media platforms based upon a plurality of predefined settings.
