A heat exchanger including a plurality of heat exchanger plates in a stacked arrangement. At least two counterflow sections are positioned adjacent each other. The counterflow sections comprise an intermediate section of each heat exchanger plate. The heat exchanger plates configured to transfer heat between a first fluid and a second fluid flowing in an opposite directions from the first fluid through a respective heat exchanger plate. At least one tent section is positioned on each end of each counterflow section. The tent sections are configured to angle the flow direction of the first and second fluids in the tent sections relative to the flow direction in the counterflow sections. A wall is positioned between each tent section and each counterflow section configured to provide a load path at opposite ends of the heat exchanger to oppose forces due to pressure on the tent sections.

High pressure counterflow heat exchanger

A heat exchange device including a center manifold including flow passages configured to exchange heat between heat exchange fluid within the flow passages and fluid external of the flow passages, wherein adjacent ends of adjacent flow passages each direct fluid flow in opposite directions, at least one separator plate arranged within the center manifold, wherein the inlet and the outlet of each flow passage is separated one of the plurality of separator plates, at least one angled center manifold plate arranged within the center manifold, wherein the angled center manifold plate is angled or curved to alter a static pressure profile throughout the center manifold and make more uniform distribution of flow among channels of the flow passages, wherein a downstream end of the at least one angled center manifold plate abuts an arcuate segment connecting adjacent separator plates.

Heat exchanger with adjacent inlets and outlets

A heat exchanger including a plurality of heat exchanger plates in a stacked arrangement. At least two counterflow sections are positioned adjacent each other. The counterflow sections comprise an intermediate section of each heat exchanger plate. The heat exchanger plates configured to transfer heat between a first fluid and a second fluid flowing in an opposite directions from the first fluid through a respective heat exchanger plate. At least one tent section is positioned on each end of each counterflow section. The tent sections are configured to angle the flow direction of the first and second fluids in the tent sections relative to the flow direction in the counterflow sections.

A heat exchange device includes a center manifold disposed between a first and second section, each of the first and second sections including flow passages configured for heat exchange between heat exchange fluid within the flow passages and fluid external of the flow passages. Each of the flow passages have a first end and a second end, and wherein adjacent ends of adjacent flow passages direct fluid flow in the same direction.

A heat exchanger to exchange heat from a first fluid to a second fluid includes a center manifold to receive the first fluid, a first inner loop having an inner loop inlet and an inner loop outlet, and a first outer loop disposed around the first inner loop, the first outer loop having an outer loop inlet and an outer loop outlet, wherein the inner loop inlet and the outer loop inlet are adjacent, and the inner loop outlet and the outer loop outlet are adjacent.

Nested loop heat exchanger

An in-line shutoff valve includes a valve body with an inlet chamber, an outlet chamber, and a poppet seat disposed between the inlet and outlet chambers. A poppet is movably disposed within the valve body and has an open and closed position. The poppet seats against the poppet seat in the closed position, fluidly separating the inlet chamber from the outlet chamber. The poppet is unseated from the poppet seat in the open position, fluidly coupling the inlet and outlet chambers. A manifold with a servo port and a vent port is disposed within the valve body between the inlet and outlet chambers, the vent port being in fluid communication with the servo port to cool valve internal structures when the poppet is in the closed position.

In-line shutoff valves

A heat exchanger includes a manifold defining a longitudinal axis, wherein the manifold includes an interior configured for a flow of heat exchange fluid therethrough. A plurality of heat exchanger tubes are connected in fluid communication with the interior of the manifold for exchanging heat exchange fluid with the interior of the manifold. Each tube is mounted to the manifold at a tube/manifold interface. Each tube extends into the interior of the manifold from the tube/manifold interface to a respective tube end face that is spaced apart from the from the tube/manifold interface by an offset. The tube end faces collectively define a tube-end profile, e.g., a smooth profile, within the interior of the manifold.

Tubes and manifolds for heat exchangers

A heat transfer apparatus includes a first protective layer of a first metallic material, a second protective layer of a second metallic material, and a heat transfer layer bonded between the first protective layer and the second protective layer. The heat transfer layer is made of a metal matrix composite, such as aluminum oxide reinforcement dispersed within a copper matrix.

An air separation system includes an ejector for controlling a pressure differential across an air separation module and a valve for controlling air flow through the ejector such that airflow through the ejector is discontinued when not required to maintain the desired pressure differential across the air separation module.

Ejector to reduce permeate backpressure of air separation module

A valve assembly includes a nitrogen enriched airflow control valve, a first stage surge control valve and a second stage surge control valve respectively arranged in a passage downstream of an air separation module, and in first and second surge control passages. The valves are in a ganged relationship or connected to one another such they move with one another in response to an input from a common actuator. The surge control valves open as the nitrogen enriched airflow control valve is moved to provide a smaller area.

On-board inert gas generation system with compressor surge protection

An on-board inert gas generation system provides first and second compressors in fluid communication with one another. The second compressor includes an inlet and an outlet. The inlet is in fluid communication with the first compressor. The second compressor is the final compressor stage of the system. An air separation module is fluidly connected to the outlet of the second compressor by a passageway. A vent passage is arranged between the outlet and the air separation module for venting fluid between the outlet and air separation module. The vent passage enables the flow from the second compressor to be increased thereby increasing compressor efficiency and increasing the inlet pressure to the air separation module, which enables use of a smaller air separation module.
