A new family of rare-earth silicate compositions and the synthetic methods used to prepare them. The materials have open-framework structures and are characterized by their ion-exchange properties. They are represented by the following empirical formula:AMM'SiOwhere A is an exchangeable cation such as sodium, M is at least one element selected from the group of rare-earth elements, and M′ is a framework metal having a valence of +2, +3, +4, or +5. The rare-earth silicate materials have utility in various cation-exchange applications such as dialysis and removal of toxic metals from the gastrointestinal tract.

Rare-earth silicate compositions and their preparation

A process for removing Pbtoxins from bodily fluids involves contacting the bodily fluid with an ion exchange composition to remove the metal toxins in the bodily fluid, including blood and gastrointestinal fluid. Alternatively, blood can be contacted with a dialysis solution which is then contacted with the ion exchange composition. The ion exchange compositions are represented by the following empirical formula:ATiNbSiOhaving either the pharmacosiderite, sitinakite, pharmacosiderite-sitinakite intergrowth topologies or mixtures thereof. There are also compositions comprising the above ion exchange compositions in combination with bodily fluids or dialysis solution. The ion exchange compositions may be supported by porous networks of biocompatible polymers such as carbohydrates or proteins.

Process for removing lead ions from boldily fluids using metallate ion exchange compositions

A process for removing Co, Pb, Cdand Crtoxins from bodily fluids is disclosed. The process involves contacting the bodily fluid with an ion exchange composition to remove the metal toxins in the bodily fluid, including blood and gastrointestinal fluid. Alternatively, blood can be contacted with a dialysis solution which is then contacted with the ion exchange composition. The ion exchange compositions are represented by the following empirical formula:AZrTiSnMSiO. A composition comprising the above ion exchange compositions in combination with bodily fluids or dialysis solution is also disclosed. Process for removing strontium ions from bodily fluids using metallate ion exchange compositions

A process for removing Hgtoxins from bodily fluids is disclosed. The process involves contacting the bodily fluid with a titanium metallate ion exchanger to remove the metal toxins in the bodily fluid, including blood and gastrointestinal fluid. Alternatively, blood can be contacted with a dialysis solution which is then contacted with the ion exchanger. The titanium metallate ion exchangers are represented by the following empirical formula:ATiNbSiO. A composition is provided with the combination of the titanium metallate ion exchanger and bodily fluids or dialysis solutions. Also, provided is an apparatus comprising a matrix and the titanium metallate ion exchanger.

A new family of highly charged crystalline microporous metallophosphate molecular sieves has been synthesized. These metallophosphates are represented by the empirical formula of:RAMEPOwhere A is an alkali metal cation, R is at least one quaternary organoammonium cation, M is a divalent metal such as zinc and E is a trivalent framework element such as aluminum or gallium. This family of high charge density metallophosphate materials are among the first metalloalumino(gallo)phosphate-type molecular sieves to be stabilized by combinations of alkali and quaternary organoammonium cations, enabling unique compositions. This family of high charge density metallophosphate molecular sieves has catalytic properties for carrying out various hydrocarbon conversion processes and separation properties for separating at least one component.

A new family of a microporous crystalline metallophosphate-based materials designated AlPO-75 has been synthesized. These metallophosphate-based materials are represented by the empirical formulaRMEPSiOwhere R is a quaternary ammonium cation such as N,N,N',N&#x2032;-tetramethyl-N,N&#x2032;-p-xyleno-1,6-hexanediammonium, M is a divalent framework metal such as magnesium or zinc, E is a framework element such as aluminum or gallium and the framework may optionally contain silicon. The microporous AlPO-75 compositions are characterized by having the SAO topology and have catalytic properties for carrying out various hydrocarbon conversion processes and separating properties for separating at least one component.

Metallophosphate molecular sieves and method of preparation and use

A new family of a microporous crystalline metallophosphate-based materials designated SAPO-80 has been synthesized. These metallophosphate-based materials are represented by the empirical formulaRMEPSiOwhere R is a quaternary ammonium cation such as &#x3b1;,&#x3b1;'-bis(dimethylethylammonium)-p-xylene, E is a framework element such as aluminum or gallium and the framework may optionally contain a divalent framework metal M such as magnesium or zinc. The microporous SAPO-80 compositions are characterized by having the AFX topology and have catalytic properties for carrying out various hydrocarbon conversion processes and separating properties for separating at least one component.

A method of making and using a new family of crystalline microporous metalloalumino(gallo)phosphosilicate molecular sieves is disclosed. These molecular sieves have been synthesized and are designated high charge density (HCD) MeAPSOs. These metalloalumino(gallo)phosphosilicates are represented by the empirical formula of:RAMEPSiOwhere A is an alkali metal such as potassium, R is at least one quaternary ammonium cation such as ethyltrimethylammonium, M is a divalent metal such as Zn and E is a trivalent framework element such as aluminum or gallium. This family of metalloalumino(gallo)phosphosilicate materials is stabilized by combinations of alkali and quaternary ammonium cations, enabling unique, high charge density compositions. The HCD MeAPSO family of materials have catalytic properties for carrying out various hydrocarbon conversion processes and separation properties for separating at least one component.

High charge density metalloaluminophosphosilicate molecular sieves

A new family of highly charged crystalline microporous metallophosphate molecular sieves designated MeAPO-81 has been synthesized. These metallophosphates are represented by the empirical formula of:RAMEPOwhere A is an alkali metal such as potassium, R is at least one quaternary ammonium cation of which one must be a cyclic diquaternary organoammonium cation such as N,N,N',N&#x2032;-tetramethyl-N,N&#x2032;-butano-1,6-hexanediammonium, M is a divalent metal such as zinc and E is a trivalent framework element such as aluminum or gallium. The MeAPO-81 family of materials has the BPH topology. The MeAPO-81 family of materials is among the first MeAPO-type molecular sieves to be stabilized by combinations of alkali and organoammonium cations, enabling unique high charge density compositions. The MeAPO-81 family of molecular sieves has catalytic properties for carrying out various hydrocarbon conversion processes and separation properties for separating at least one component.

A new family of crystalline microporous metallophosphates designated AlPO-77 has been synthesized. These metallophosphates are represented by the empirical formulaHMEPSiOwhere M is a framework metal alkaline earth or transition metal of valence +2, and E is a trivalent framework element such as aluminum or gallium. The AlPO-77 compositions are characterized by a new unique ABC-6 net structure, and have catalytic properties suitable for carrying out various hydrocarbon conversion processes, as well as characteristics suitable for adsorption applications.

These high charge density metallophosphates are represented by the empirical formula of:RAMEPOwhere A is an alkali metal such as potassium, R is an organoammonium cation such as tetraethylammonium, M is a divalent metal such as zinc and E is a trivalent framework element such as aluminum or gallium. The molecular sieves of the invention as synthesized exhibit an x-ray diffraction pattern as shown in Table A and are modified by a process selected from calcination, ammonia calcination or ion-exchange. The PST-19 family of materials are among the first MeAPO-type molecular sieves to be stabilized by combinations of alkali and quaternary ammonium cations, enabling unique compositions. The PST-19 family of molecular sieves has the SBS topology and catalytic properties for carrying out various hydrocarbon conversion processes and separation properties for separating at least one component.

A family of highly charged crystalline microporous metallophosphate molecular sieves designated PST-16 has been synthesized. These metallophosphates are represented by the empirical formula of:RAMEPOwhere A is an alkali metal such as potassium, R is an organoammonium cation such as ethyltrimethylammonium, M is a divalent metal such as zinc and E is a trivalent framework element such as aluminum or gallium. The PST-16 family of molecular sieves are stabilized by combinations of alkali and organoammonium cations, enabling unique metalloalumino(gallo)phosphate compositions and exhibit the CGS topology. The PST-17 family of molecular sieves has catalytic properties for carrying out various hydrocarbon conversion processes and separation properties for separating at least one component.
