Systems and methods for financial data analysis are provided. A system is provided wherein financial data associated with stocks and stock options is collected from multiple sources and calculations performed thereon to derive values for a set of searchable screening parameters related to searching stock option spreads. Users may access the system and provide values and ranges of values for searching the set of searchable screening parameters. In response, users are presented with the set of option spreads, in sorted order, that satisfy the user-supplied search values. Users may select to execute an option spread in which case the system automatically executes the plurality of option trades that underly the spread.

System and method for analyzing and searching financial instrument data

A system for testing option search strategies comprises a repository of historical option data reflecting financial market conditions on a plurality of days in the past. The system is adapted to receive user defined search criteria for searching the repository of historical option data for option investments, search the repository of historical option data for option investments satisfying the user defined search criteria, and transmit the results. The system is further adapted to receive a request to use the user defined search criteria to search current financial market data for existing investment opportunities.

Exemplary systems and methods for analyzing and searching financial instrument data respond to user defined searches using updated financial market data. Potential returns from different investment strategies can be viewed together so that the returns and risks can be compared and contrasted. The effect on various option strategies of a change in the price of the underlying stock can be analyzed. Potential investment opportunities relating to an existing investment position can be identified. Stock repair opportunities relating to a selected stock investment can be identified and implemented.
