A vehicle seat assembly includes a seat, seat mounting brackets for securing the seat to a vehicle structure, and a pair of laterally spaced apart track assemblies secured to the mounting brackets to selectively move the seat in a horizontal direction. A plurality of weight sensing devices are connected to the seat mounting brackets and a pair of mounting plates are supported by the weight sensing devices. A first pair of the weight sensing devices supports one of the pair of mounting plates and a second pair of the weight sensing devices supports the other of the pair of mounting plates. The weight sensing devices provide signals indicating occupancy of the seat. A seat belt is secured to at least one of the mounting plates so that loads of seat belt are transmitted through the mounting plates to the track assemblies and the mounting brackets.

Adjustable motor vehicle seat having mounting plates for occupant classification system (OCS)

An adjustment mechanism is provided for a seat assembly of an automotive vehicle having a floor. The adjuster mechanism includes a support member, a first leg, a shaft, an arm, a link and a motor. The shaft extends defines a first axis. A first end of the support member is rotatably coupled to the shaft. The first leg has an upper end rotatably coupled to the shaft and a lower end rotatably coupled to the floor for rotation about a second axis. The arm has a distal end extending radially outwardly from the shaft. The link has one end pivotally coupled to the distal end of the arm and an opposite end pivotally coupled to the floor for rotation of the link about a third axis. A motor is drivingly engaged to the shaft via a gear mechanism causing rotation of support member about the first axis, rotation of the first leg about the second axis and rotation of the link about the third axis, whereby the support member is displaced between a seating position and a stowed position.

A seat track assembly includes a first track and a second track operably engaging the first track so that the second track is slideable between a full forward position and a fill rearward position with respect to the first track. A locking device is supported on the second track and is moveable between a locked position where the locking device maintains the second track in a desired position relative to the first track and an unlocked position where the second track is movable relative to the first track. A release member is pivotally supported about a first axis and is movable between a normal position and a release position. The release member maintains the locking device in the unlocked position when the release member is in the release position. The seat track assembly also includes a rod rotatable about a second axis. The rod is operatively connected to the release member such that rotation of one of the rod or the release member rotates the other of the rod or the release member.

A vehicle seat assembly includes a seat back and a seat bottom and is attached to a vehicle support structure by a mounting assembly. The mounting assembly includes a first track and a second track supported for movement relative to the first track along a first longitudinal axis. The seat bottom is supported on the second track for axial movement with the second track. This allows the seat assembly to be adjusted forwardly or rearwardly by a seat occupant. The seat back can also be moved relative to the second track between an upright position and a recliner position. The seat assembly receives a seat load resulting from the seat occupant sitting in the seat with the seat back in the reclined position and/or from a forward movement of the seat occupant during a deceleration of the vehicle when the seat occupant is belted into the seat. The mounting assembly includes at least one bracket supported on the second track for movement therewith and a reinforcement member that is fixed to the bracket and defines a second longitudinal axis, which is parallel to said first longitudinal axis. The reinforcement member distributes the seat load applied to the bracket along the length of the second track.
