A golf club head includes a body and ball alignment indicia that protrudes forwardly of the front surface of the body. A transparent plate covers the ball alignment indicia and has a front face arranged for impacting a golf ball. A flange on the transparent plate is received in a recess in the body thereby forming a mechanical interlock between the transparent plate and the body. The ball alignment indicia has a partial spheroid shape and is located intermediate heel and toe ends of the body.

Golf bag divider top

A golf bag having a unitary tubular body and a method of making the body are disclosed. The body has a generally ovoid cross sectional shape with a small radius portion of the ovoid shape forming a ridge which extends generally longitudinally of the body. A handle and an upstanding rib extend from the ridge. The rib is provided with a plurality of transverse slots arranged along its length for attachment of a pocket assembly. A protective collar is attached to the body at an open top end thereof, and an upper end of a shoulder strap is coupled to the protective collar. A lower end of the shoulder strap is connected to the body between the handle and the rib.

A golf bag stand includes a saddle shaped member which is secured to a generally tubular body of a golf bag. A leg member extends from the saddle shaped member in a direction which is generally normal to the longitudinal axis of the golf bag body. Since the leg member is fixed relative to the saddle shaped member, no actuation of the leg member is required in order for the leg member to support the golf bag body in a propped up position when the golf bag is resting on the ground. The leg member is bifurcated so that a pair of feet are formed on an outer end thereof.

A pocket assembly is removably attached to a generally tubular body of a golf bag. The pocket assembly includes a receptacle with a pair of pockets for holding golf accessories. An upstanding rib is formed on the body, and spring clips are provided on the receptacle for gripping engagement with the rib to position the pocket assembly at a selected location on the body. When the pocket assembly is attached to the body, the receptacle straddles the rib and the pockets are disposed on opposite sides of the rib. The spring clips may be disengaged from the rib so that the pocket assembly may be removed from the body and relocated to another selected location on the body. Straps attached to the spring clips are wrapped around the body, and hook and loop fasteners are used to fasten the straps together.

Removable and repositionable pocket assembly for golf bags

A golf bag includes a putter storage compartment which is separate from a main golf club storage compartment and is disposed in an elongated pocket which is normally provided on golf bags and is commonly referred to as a clothing pocket. A partition within the clothing pocket separates the putter storage compartment from the remaining storage area of the clothing pocket. A top fitting having an axial bore is provided in the top panel of the clothing pocket above the putter storage compartment to allow the putter shaft to be inserted and removed from the putter storage compartment. The lower end of the putter storage compartment has an opening formed therein and a baffle is provided which partially restricts that opening to keep the grip end of the putter shaft from falling through the opening. The baffle also serves as a drain for water which may enter the putter storage compartment through the open top thereof. In one embodiment, an elongated tube contains the putter shaft and extends from the top fitting to the bottom opening in the putter storage compartment.

A golf bag having a seat assembly upon which a golfer may sit to rest. When the golfer desires to sit down, a specially configured storage pocket is opened, and a generally U-shaped support rod is moved from a retracted position to an extended position so that a foldable seat, preferably made of fabric, is in a taut stretched condition adjacent a top end of the storage pocket. The foldable seat is attached to a bight portion of the generally U-shaped support rod and is in a folded condition when the support rod is in its retracted position.

A support stand for use with a golf bag having a body with an open upper end includes a housing mounted on the body. The housing has spaced apart diverging channels formed therein. A pair of support assemblies, each having an arm, are pivotally mounted in the channels for movement between retracted and extended positions. A leg is connected to each arm. The support assemblies are spring loaded to urge them into the retracted position, and a cam lever is pivotally mounted on the housing. When the cam lever is depressed into actuating engagement with the arms, the support assemblies are moved into their extended positions and the legs support the body in a propped-up position.

A golf bag includes a container and a stand. The container has an elongated body which defines an interior space for receiving golf clubs, and a partition member disposed inside the body divides the interior space into a plurality of individual compartments. A throat member is attached to an upper end of the body, and a hinge connects a base member to a lower end of the body. The hinge permits pivoting movement of the body relative to the base member from an upright position to an inclined position. During this pivoting movement of the body, a lower edge on the body lower end moves toward an upper edge on the base member. When the body is in its upright position, a wedge-shaped gap is formed between the lower edge on the body lower end and the upper edge on the base member. The wedge-shaped gap is closed as the body moves from its upright position to its inclined position. A stand, which includes a pair of legs pivotally connected to the throat member, supports the body in its inclined position.

A metal golf club head includes a main body and a sole plate. The main body has a front wall arranged for impacting a golf ball, a top wall, a bottom wall with an opening formed therein, and a rear wall. The sole plate closes the opening in the bottom wall of the main body. A circular ridge circumscribes the main body opening and projects downwardly from the main body. The sole plate has a circular ridge extending around its periphery and projecting downwardly. When the sole plate is inserted in the main body opening, the circular ridges on the main body and the sole plate are juxtaposed. Then, these circular ridges are fused together in order to affix the sole plate to the main body.

Method of assembling a metal golf club head

A lightweight carry bag for golf clubs is provided with an automatically extensible bag stand which supports the golf bag in a propped-up position whenever the golf bag is set down during the course of playing a game of golf. The bag stand is configured to operate in the manner of a toggle mechanism with the operating force being derived from a partial longitudinal collapsing of the carry bag which occurs when the bag is set down on the ground in a vertical attitude and leaned over slightly in the direction of a partially collapsible side of the golf bag.
