A spinal rod persuader, system and method can include an outer tube, an inner tube, and a locking element. A first actuation mechanism can be movable in a linear fashion along a longitudinal axis direction to cause the locking element to move in a linear fashion over the inner tube and to lock the inner tube onto a pedicle screw. A second actuation mechanism can be rotated to cause the outer tube to move in a longitudinal axis direction with respect to the inner tube to push the spinal rod into a final position with respect to the pedicle screw while the pedicle screw is locked to the inner tube. A slot and/or tab structure can be provided in the outer tube such that actuation of the slot/tab will allow disassembly of the inner tube, outer tube and locking element with respect to each other.

A V-quad engine has two juxtaposed V-twin cylinder banks connected to a common crankshaft and fuel and ignition systems that cause the front cylinders in the two banks to fire simultaneously and the rear cylinders in the two banks to fire simultaneously. Conventional V-twin components are used for many components of the V-quad engine. Master-slave rocker shaft assemblies are provided with angularly adjustable links to drive the left bank rocker shafts in unison with the right bank rocker shafts.

An aquaculture system for allowing live seafood such as clam seeds to grow on a floatation raft which can be positioned in water dock spaces of a marina. A first embodiment allows for an air source such as a regenerative blower to pump air into airlifts under the floatation raft causing seawater to become aerated to flow into and up through screens in container units in the raft allowing for the live seafood on the screens to become both aerated and fed. A second embodiment is a downwell unit where the aerated water flows down the container units through the screens. The upwell air lifts can be modified with spray arm attachments to convert the system from upwell to downwell flow operations. The airlifts can have forty-five degree angled cut bottoms, and include extension tubes for allowing deeper seawater to be introduced into the system. Removable filters can be attached to the airlifts to filter out undesirable contaminants from the system.

An integrated reflector lamp includes a sealed envelope enclosing a high pressure gas discharge device. A shell has a rim portion which receives the sealed envelope and an opposing basal portion carrying a screw base. A ballast for igniting and operating the discharge device is enclosed within the shell between the screw base and the sealed envelope. The sealed envelope includes a reflective surface which directs light emitted by the discharge device. The reflective surface also provides effective heat management for preventing overheating of the ballast by the heat generated by the discharge device. The integrated lamp has photometrics and luminous efficacy which exceeds that of corresponding halogen and halogen IR reflector lamps while having an overall planform which fits within that of the corresponding lamp. In a favorable embodiment, the ballast drives the discharge device at a high frequency above about 19 kHz and below the lowest acoustic resonant frequency of the discharge device, facilitating a small physical size for the ballast while also avoiding acoustic resonance. In one embodiment, the reflector lamp fits within the ANSI outline for a PAR 38 lamp and has total lumens at least substantially equal to and a luminous efficacy which substantially exceeds that of a corresponding PAR 38 lamp having an incandescent filament.

A high pressure gas discharge lamp system includes a high pressure discharge lamp selected to have a lowest lamp resonant frequency above the audible, on a current basis above about 19 kHz and on a power basis of above about 38 kHz. The ballast circuit energizes the discharge device so as to have a fundamental frequency below the lowest lamp resonant frequency and above the audible, while keeping the magnitude of any harmonics above the lowest lamp resonant frequency sufficiently small so as to avoid acoustic resonance. By operating below the lowest lamp resonant frequency, greatly simplifying ballast construction and cost. According to one embodiment, the discharge vessel encloses a discharge space which is circular cylindrical and having a L:ID ratio of about 1:1 to maximize the lowest lamp resonant frequency. According to another embodiment, two or more discharge devices are operated concurrently by the ballast, each having a lowest lamp resonant frequency of above the audible, and the ballast operating frequency so as to increase light output while still avoiding acoustic resonance.

A watercraft mooring system that is fully resistant against the forces generated by wind and wave action, and its operation is extremely easy and reliable. The invention is composed of four main components: (1) a dock that is selectively releasable from firm anchorage with respect to footings in the lake bottom, (2) a two axes articulation system mounted to the dock, (3) a coupling system that includes a dock-side coupling member that is pivotable and tiltable with respect to the dock via the two axes articulation system and further includes a vessel-side pair of coupling members that interface selectively with the dock-side coupling member to couple the boat to the dock, and, finally, (4) a coupling release mechanism mounted to the vessel for selectively releasing the aforesaid coupling of the boat to the dock. The invention is particularly well suited for use with pontoon boats.

Mooring system for vessels

A disposable receptacle for animal and other waste having a rigid container for receiving an absorbent material and the deposited waste. A flange extends around the container and at least partially defines a channel which receives a flexible sleeve-like closure in a stored out-of-the-way position which has one end secured to the container. When the closure is unfolded, it extends over the container to close it and the free end of the closure may be gathered and secured by a twist tie.
