Floating electromagnetic field generator systems and methods are provided. The system comprises a surgical bed portion. The system also comprises a brace component disposed within the surgical bed portion. Additionally, the system comprises a first arm that is attached to the brace component. The first arm is positioned adjacent to the surgical bed portion. Additionally, the first arm has at least one field generator coil embedded therein. The system also comprises a second arm that is attached to the brace component. The second arm is positioned adjacent to the surgical bed portion. Additionally, the second arm has at least one field generator coil embedded therein. The second arm is positioned parallel to the first arm.

Floating electromagnetic field generator system and method of controlling the same

An illuminated indicator for a doorbell can be arranged to receive light along an optical axis (e.g., that is perpendicular to a front face of the doorbell housing) and emit the light from an output portion that defines a closed loop (e.g., that extends around the optical axis) and in a direction that is parallel to the optical axis. The illuminated indicator can include a light pipe that receives light along the optical axis and reflects the light to follow a radially outward and divergent path, e.g., that is perpendicular to the optical axis. The radially outward and divergent light can be reflected to follow a path that is parallel to the optical axis for emission at an output portion of the light pipe. The light pipe can be configured to transmit a doorbell switch activation force to other parts of the doorbell to cause actuation of the switch.

An optical filter device, system, and methods for improved optical rejection of high angle of incidence (AOI) light is disclosed. For example, an analyte detection system is provided that includes an excitation light source for illuminating an implantable sensor and an optical detector for collecting emission light from the implantable sensor. Further, the optical detector portion of the analyte detection system features an optical filter device including a surface-treated microchannel wherein the surface-treated microchannel serves to absorb, trap, and/or block high-AOI light. Further, a method of operation of the presently disclosed microchannel-based optical filter device including a surface-treated microchannel is provided with respect to the high optical rejection of high-AOI light.

An apparatus and method for establishing a global coordinate system to facilitate robotic assisted surgery. The coordinate system may be established using a combination of the robotic data, i.e., kinematics, and optical coherence tomographic images generated by an overhead optical assembly and a tool-based sensor. Using these components, the system may generate a computer-registered three-dimensional model of the patient's eye. In some embodiments, the system may also generate a virtual boundary within the coordinate system to prevent inadvertent injury to the patient.

Apparatus and method for a global coordinate system for use in robotic surgery

A surgical tool having an electromagnetic (EM) sensor component is provided. The surgical tool has a flexible shaft portion. Additionally, the surgical tool has a rigid portion attached to the flexible shaft portion. The rigid portion comprises at least one EM sensor within the rigid portion. The at least one EM sensor comprises an extended core portion surrounded by a coil. Additionally, the at least one EM sensor generates a change in voltage when exposed to an electromagnetic field.

Surgical tools having electromagnetic tracking components

An optical device is used to monitor an implant embedded in the tissue of a mammal (e.g., under the skin). The implant receives excitation light from the optical device and emits light that is detected by the optical device, including an analyte-dependent optical signal. Scatter and absorption properties of tissue change over time due to changes in hydration, blood perfusion and oxygenation. The optical device has an arrangement of light sources, filters and detectors to transmit excitation light within excitation wavelength ranges and to measure emitted light within detection wavelengths. Changes in scattering and absorption of light in the tissue, such as diffuse reflectance, are monitored. The light sources, filters and detectors may also be used to monitor autofluorescence in the tissue to correct autofluorescence background.

Method and device for correcting optical signals

An electromagnetic (EM) system for tracking a surgical tool is provided. The system may comprise a plurality of subsets of field generator coils disposed along edge portions of a surgical bed. Each subset of field generator coils may be configured to generate a magnetic field within a control volume. The system may further comprise a position sensor disposed on a portion of the surgical tool. The position sensor may be configured to generate a sensor signal in response to the magnetic field when the position sensor is located inside the control volume. Additionally, the system may comprise an EM system controller configured to selectively activate one or more of the subsets of field generator coils based on the sensor signal.

Electromagnetic tracking surgical system and method of controlling the same

An instrument device manipulator (IDM) is attached to a surgical arm of a robotic system and comprises a surgical tool holder and an outer housing. The surgical tool holder includes an attachment interface that can secure a surgical tool in a front-mount configuration (where the attachment interface is on a face opposite of a proximal extension of the surgical tool) or a back-mount configuration (where the attachment interface is on the same face as the proximal extension of the surgical tool). The surgical tool holder may rotate continuously within the outer housing. In a back-mount configuration, the surgical tool holder may have a passage that receives the proximal extension of the tool and allows free rotation of the proximal extension about the rotational axis. A surgical drape separates the IDM and robotic arm from a tool, while allowing electrical and/or optical signals to pass therebetween.

The present invention is drawn to devices and systems for allergen detection in a sample. The allergen detection system includes a sampler, a disposable analysis cartridge and a detection device with an optimized optical system. In some embodiments, the allergen detection utilizes aptamer nucleic acid molecules as detection agents. In some embodiments, the nucleic acids are conjugated to magnetic beads or solid surfaces such as glasses, microwells and microchips.

Some embodiments described herein relate to an apparatus including a light source configured to transmit an excitation optical signal to an implanted sensor and a detector configured to detect an analyte-dependent optical signal emitted from an implanted sensor. The apparatus can include a lens configured to focus at least a portion of the analyte-dependent optical signal onto the detector.
