By blending a quantity of synthetic cyclo-paraffinic kerosene fuel blending component comprising at least 99.5 mass % of carbon and hydrogen content and at least 50 mass % of cyclo-paraffin into kerosene base fuel, kerosene based-propulsion fuels can be upgraded to higher quality kerosene based-propulsion fuels such as jet fuel or rocket fuel to meet certain specification and/or increase volumetric energy content of the propulsion fuel.

Methods of providing higher quality liquid kerosene based-propulsion fuels

An unleaded aviation fuel composition, containing at least one saturated branched aliphatic hydrocarbon having a carbon number in the Cto Crange, further contains sufficient m-xylene to yield a fuel having a MON of at least 98. A process is further provided for producing the unleaded aviation fuel composition by admixing a m-xylene enriched liquid with alkylate.

High octane aviation fuel composition

A stable distillate fuel blend useful as a fuel or as a blending component of a fuel that is suitable for use in turbine engine, said fuel blend prepared from at least one highly paraffinic distillate fuel component having low to moderate branching and at least one conventional petroleum-derived distillate fuel component and a process for preparing same involving the blending of at least two components having antagonistic properties with respect to one another.

Thermally stable jet prepared from highly paraffinic distillate fuel component and conventional distillate fuel component

An aviation gasoline (Avgas) fuel composition possessing a high motor octane number and which contains reduced amounts of tetraethyl lead is disclosed. The Avegas composition preferably comprises about 20 to about 80 vol % iso-octane, about 5 to about 18 vol % toluene, about 1 to about 20 vol % C to C paraffins, about 0 to about 1 ml/gallon tetraethyl lead (TEL) and the balance light alkylate. The Avgas composition may be economically produced utilizing spare methyl tertiary butyl ether plant capacity to produce iso-octane as one component of the composition.
