A series of new chemical compounds which are 4-aminoalkyl-2(3H)-indolones has been demonstrated to be D.sub.2 -agonists useful for treating hypertension. A representative compound of the series is 4-di-n-propylaminoethyl-2(3H)-indolone.

4-Aminoalkyl-2(3H)-indolones

A group of 1-phenyl-1H-3-benzazepines whose structures are characterized by having a functional thio containing group on the 1-phenyl moiety and which have pronounced peripheral and diminished central dopaminergic activity. This activity is manifested in an anti-hypertensive effect in humans. Particular species of this group include 6-chloro-7,8-dihydroxy-1-p-methylthiophenyl-2,3,4,5-tetrahydro-1H-3-benzaz epine and its derivatives which have dopaminergic activity.

4-Sulfanilamidothiazole having antibacterial activity is prepared from the previously unknown 4-aminothiazole.

The active ingredients are used most usefully at subhypnotic quantities admixed in animal feed.

4-Aminothiazole is prepared in stable useful form by alkaline hydrolysis of 4-trifluoroacetamidothiazole. Also prepared are 4-sulfathiazole and 2-(4-thaizolyl)-indazole.
