A secure and stable mounting system for High Field Open (HFO) magnets. A stainless steel mounting plate is secured to the RF screen room floor and the HFO magnet is secured to the mounting plate. Metal angle members are welded around the perimeter edges of the steel plate, and brass wool is inserted between the angle members and the copper sheeting on the floor of the screen room. The invention minimizes magnet motion and thus reduces the risk of image phase ghosting. The invention also provides RF screen room integrity.

Mounting system and RF shield for high field open magnet

A multi purpose interconnect assembly between upper and lower helium vessels in a recondensing superconducting magnet to provide isothermal connections to extend the ride-through period, and to provide for helium liquid and gas passage, electrical interconnections, and to accommodate differential thermal contraction and expansion.

A suspension system for a superconducting magnet for supporting and spacing the thermal radiation shield and vacuum vessel about the cryogen vessel utilizing a carbon fiber reinforced composite assembly with a first frustro-conical member positioned between the cryogen vessel and radiation shield and a second frustro-conical member extending from the vacuum vessel to overlap the radiation shield with a radially extending connecting member between the interior ends of the members to provide a tortuous generally Z-shaped lengthened thermal path and thermal resistance plus mechanical support in both the axial and radial directions.

Superconducting magnet suspension assembly

A passive shimming system for a superconducting magnet to improve bore magnetic homogeneity includes a plurality of axially extending non-magnetic drawers each including a plurality of pockets along the drawer with a securable cover for each pocket to enclose the selected ferromagnetic shim disks and compressible spring material to enable individual access and shimming of selected pockets.

Magnetic resonance imaging passively shimmed superconducting magnet

A cryogen recondensing system magnetic resonance imager superconducting magnet and a cryogen recondensing system with a rare earth displacement material cryocooler and superconductive lead bismuth magnetic sleeve provides superconducting current flow of currents induced by movement of the rare earth displacer which generate opposing magnetic fields to shield the superconducting magnet from the magnetic interference of the cryocooler rare earth displacer. Strips of high conductivity wave-shaped aluminum or sapphire rods may be embedded in the surface of the sleeve to lower the thermal resistance of the superconducting shield to enable it to quickly reach superconducting temperature.
