A hydrocarbon dispensation line pressure sensor adapted to work without requirement of a separate closed valve. The system closes the dispensation line upstream via an isolation valve. The pressure can be sensed from the dispensation line through the valve to provide dispensation line pressure. A channel in fluid communication with the dispensation line may be provided to allow pressure measurement apart from the main dispensation line. Further, a method for measuring the pressure drop profile of a dispensation line and various methods to determine the pressure loss due to leaks in dispensation line.

The technician may access the test port while the line system head pressure s maintained at a point above ground. The test port has a quick connect/disconnect fitting disposed in a collar intermediate a mounting for a filter in a conventional gasoline/diesel fuel dispenser and the filter to provide a technician access to the fuel line and perform various tests. The quick connect/disconnect fitting may also be coupled to a hose for draining fuel under pressure into a safety can to prevent spillage during replacement of the filter. The safety can may be emptied into the fuel tank to conserve the fuel, prevent polluting the environment and as a safety measure.

An underground storage tank maintenance system includes a system of monitors to determine pressure and humidity in the system. Inert gas may be supplied into the ullage of the tank. The inert gas may first pass through an interstitial space as between the primary storage and secondary containment, and then passed into ullage to capture contaminants on the way out of the vent to atmosphere. The system and method prevent hydrocarbons exiting to atmosphere. Humidity sensors may be set along vent to determine water contamination and trigger drying cycles. Pressure readings help identify system leaks.

Controlled nitrogen blanketing systems

A system to maintain an inert ullage in a hydrocarbon tank. The system provides for outgassing/venting of ullage gases when a high-pressure event is found within the tank. Further, when a low-pressure event occurs, during fuel discharge or based on ambient conditions, a source of inert gas, such as nitrogen) supplies gas on-demand to the hydrocarbon tank via a pressure regulator (preferably along the venting system) to maintain both the pressure and inerting of the ullage. A method for maintaining the inert ullage is also provided, whereby a low-pressure event triggers a supply of inert gas into the tank.

Low volume nitrogen systems

A system and method for monitoring liquid tanks that includes a submersible sensor within the tank below liquid surface. The system may also include a secondary sensor to determine ambient conditions, and a controller to determine when changes in liquid level are due to ambient events, or potential breach of system. A calibration rod may be used to monitor displacement of liquid in the tank and calibrate system to determine changes in height of liquid level.

Gas blanketing system for low-pressure hydrocarbon tanks

A system and method for improving hydrocarbon fuel, such as diesel, particularly after contamination in underground storage tanks with other fuels such as gasoline, etc. High-gravity hydrocarbons present in diesel and/or water are removed via aeration of the (out-of-specification/contaminated) diesel. The removal of unwanted hydrocarbons and other contaminants can be accomplished in a number of fashions, including pumped air, exposure of the line, drawing of air into the line, etc. After removal from the diesel line, high-gravity hydrocarbons can be isolated and recycled or re-used, for instance to power the system. Following the conditioning, the diesel may be returned into specification for dispensation at a commercial or retail fuel center for use in vehicles and diesel combustion engines. The system and process may be portable and/or conducted locally at the site of an underground storage tank.
