A breakaway joint for a boom arm assembly includes a first boom segment defining a pivot axis at a first end, a second boom segment pivotally coupled to the first boom segment at the pivot axis, a bracket coupled to the first boom segment, a leaf spring coupled to the bracket between the first boom segment and the second boom segment, and a cam coupled to the second boom segment and positioned adjacent to the leaf spring. The first boom segment and the second boom segment are pivotally aligned in a neutral position. In the neutral position, the leaf spring contacts the cam at a first contact force, and in any position other than the neutral position, the leaf spring contacts the cam at a contact force greater than the first contact force.

A rotational kinetic energy conversion system includes a magnetic piston with an associated winding and an actuating magnet. Relative motion between the actuating magnet and the magnetic piston causes the magnetic piston to induce a current and voltage in the winding creating electrical energy. The amount of electrical energy induced in the winding is varied by adjusting a spacing between the magnetic piston and the actuating magnet. The spacing may be based on a relative speed between the magnetic piston and the actuating magnet. Maximum energy output may be increased by including additional sets of magnetic pistons and actuating magnets. The spacing between each individual set of magnetic pistons and actuating magnets may be changed to control the energy output.

A turboalternator and air flow control assembly for mounting on a combustion air intake of an internal combustion engine comprises a body having an inlet and an outlet defining an air flow path, a nozzle carrier in the body defining a plurality of turbine nozzles spaced arcuately about and generally parallel with a central axis, the nozzles having inlet and outlet ends and forming a portion of the air flow path, a rotor mounted in the body on bearings for rotation on the central axis, the rotor driving an electric generator and including a turbine wheel having blades axially adjacent and radially aligned with said nozzles, a bypass passage in the body and connecting the inlet and outlet separately from the nozzles, and a bypass valve in the bypass passage and operable to control air flow through said bypass passage. Various embodiments including concentric or parallel bypass passage arrangements and having axial or radial gap alternators with permanent magnet rotors are featured. A battery charging system and method for voltage regulation of turbine and engine driven alternators combined in the system are also featured.

A combination child restraint-stroller is disclosed which can be converted from a passive restraint car seat to a stroller, while the apparatus is held by an user with a child seated therein. The apparatus includes a body having a child support surface and an internal cavity therebelow with a downwardly facing opening. A front and rear strut are pivotably attached to the body having a pair of front and rear wheels rotatably attached thereto. A locking mechanism is provided to alternatively lock the front and rear struts in either the retracted passive restraint position within the body internal cavity, or in the extended stroller position.
