An inkjet printing system contains an inkjet printer loaded with a recording element comprising a support and an ink receiving layer containing: a) fusible polymeric particles; and b) a water soluble block copolymer having ethylene oxide and propylene oxide segments, the copolymer exhibiting a Draves wetting coefficient, for a 0.1 wt % solution in water at 25&#xb0; C., of not more than 360 seconds. An inkjet printing method and an inkjet recording medium are also contemplated.

Fusible inkjet recording media

The present invention is directed to an image-recording medium comprising a paper support and, coated on one side of the support, in order: a lower ink-receiving layer, an upper gloss layer and, coated on the opposite side of the support, an inner layer comprising at least 75% by weight of fine inorganic particles and a binder, and an outer layer substantially consisting of a polymeric material. Another aspect of the present invention relates to an inkjet printing process.

Recording element for aqueous inks

An inkjet recording element comprising a support having thereon in order, from top to bottom, an upper fusible, porous layer comprising fusible polymeric particles, which particles comprise a thermoplastic polymer with reactive functional groups, the inkjet recording element further comprising a lower crosslinker-containing layer in which a polyfunctional compound has complementary reactive functional groups capable of crosslinking the reactive functional groups on the thermoplastic polymer under fusing. Fusible reactive media comprising crosslinker-containing layer

An inkjet recording element comprising a support having thereon in order, from top to bottom, a fusible, porous ink-transporting layer comprising fusible polymeric particles, which particles comprise a thermoplastic polymer with reactive functional groups, the ink-transporting layer further comprising a multifunctional compound having complementary reactive functional groups capable of crosslinking the reactive functional groups on the thermoplastic polymer. The ink-transporting layer is over a fusible dye-trapping layer that preferably comprises a mordant. Optionally, an ink-carrier-liquid receptive layer is present between the dye-trapping layer and the support.

An inkjet recording element comprises a support having thereon in order, from top to bottom, a fusible, porous top layer comprising fusible polymeric particles that comprise a thermoplastic polymer with reactive functional groups, in combination with a multifunctional compound having complementary reactive functional groups capable of crosslinking the reactive functional groups on the thermoplastic polymer. Optionally, an ink-carrier-liquid receptive layer is present between the top layer and the support.

A method of printing on an inkjet recording element having a support having thereon in order: a) a porous upper fusible layer of fusible polymeric materials and a binder, b) a porous ink-receiving layer in which pigmented ink is stratified such that, after fusing the printed element, greater than 50% of the printed pigment colorant particles in the inkjet ink composition is retained in the bottom half of the upper porous fusible layer.

Inkjet print and a method of printing

An inkjet recording element comprises a support having thereon in order, from top to bottom, a fusible, porous layer comprising fusible multifunctional polymer particles derived from an aqueous dispersion that comprise a thermoplastic polymer with at least two reactive functional groups capable of crosslinking with each other. An ink jet printing method having the steps of: A) providing an ink jet printer that is responsive to digital data signals; B) loading the printer with an ink jet recording element having a substrate having thereon: i) a subbing layer of a polymeric binder and a borate or a borate derivative, the borate or borate derivative being present in an amount of from up to about 3 g/m, and the weight ratio of the polymeric binder to the borate or borate derivative is from about 0.2:1 to about 3:1; and ii) an image-receiving layer of inorganic particles and a cross-linkable polymer containing hydroxyl groups, the cross-linkable polymer being present in an amount of less than about 50 g/m, and the weight ratio of the cross-linkable polymer to the inorganic particles is from about 5:95 to about 30:70; C) loading the printer with an inkjet ink composition; and D) printing on the image-receiving layer using the ink jet ink in response to the digital data signals.

An ink recording element is described comprising a support having thereon at least one image-receiving layer comprising polymeric particles in a polymeric binder, wherein the polymeric particle is stabilized by a hydrophobically-capped oligomeric acrylamide dispersant.

An ink jet recording element having a support having thereon an image-receiving layer of porous polymeric particles in a polymeric binder, the porous polymeric particles being prepared in the presence of an anionic or cationic dispersant, and the image-receiving layer containing a surfactant having a charge opposite to that of the dispersant used to make the porous polymeric particles, the surfactant being present in an amount from about 0.04 parts to about 0.30 parts by weight of the dispersant.

An ink jet printing method having the steps of: A) providing an ink jet printer that is responsive to digital data signals, B) loading the printer with an ink jet recording element of a substrate having thereon: a) a subbing layer having a polymeric binder and a borate or a borate derivative, the borate or borate derivative being present in an amount of from about 3 to about 50 g/m , and the weight ratio of the polymeric binder to the borate or borate derivative is from about 0.2:1 to about 2:1, and b) an image-receiving layer having particles and a cross-linkable polymer containing hydroxyl groups, the cross-linkable polymer being present in an amount of from about 20 to about 150 g/m , and the weight ratio of the cross-linkable polymer to the particles is from about 10:90 to about 30:70; C) loading the printer with an ink jet ink composition; and D) printing on the ink jet recording element using the ink jet ink composition in response to the digital data signals.
