A method for providing multi-path network access to a client in a network includes, by a first circuitry; i) providing routing of packets between the network and a first access network; ii) providing forwarding of packets within the first communication network; iii) intercepting packets from the client node destined for a destination node outside the first communication network; iv) forwarding the intercepted packets to a multi-path agent within the first network; and by the multi-path agent: i) receiving the intercepted packets from the first routing circuitry; ii) transforming the intercepted packets to multi-path packets supporting a multi-path networking protocol; and iv) forwarding, the multi-path packets to the first and/or second routing circuitry for further routing.

Multi-path access network

A method provides for a first networking node in a first network access to a second network by a mobile communication device including the steps: by a first gateway in the first network, extracting payload data and header information from a first data packet originating from the first networking node and addressed to a second networking node in the second network, and sending the extracted payload and header information as payload of a second data packet to the mobile communication device; and, by the mobile communication device, receiving the second data packet, retrieving therefrom the extracted payload and header information, and sending the extracted payload and header information as payload of a third data packet to the second gateway; and, by the second gateway, receiving the third data packet, retrieving therefrom the first data packet and forwarding the first data packet further to the second networking node.

Mobile communication device for providing network access from a first network to a second network

According to an embodiment a method is disclosed for establishing a Multipath TCP connection comprising a first and second TCP connection between a client and a server. The client performs the steps of: sending a synchronization segment to the server indicative for a request to establish the first and second TCP connection, receiving a synchronization and acknowledgement segment from the server, establishing the first and second TCP connections, sending an acknowledgment segment to the server in order for the server to establish the first and second TCP connection.

Method and device for establishing multipath network connections

A data transfer connection between a device and another device can be established using a basic protocol having a multipath extension that allows for the data transfer connection to use several different paths in parallel. In establishing the data transfer connection, an intermediate device receives a connection request from the device. This connection request comprises an indication that the device is capable of handling the multipath extension. In addition, the connection request comprises an identification of the other device with which the data transfer connection is to be established. The intermediate device then determines whether the other device is capable of handling the multipath extension, or not. The intermediate device establishes the data transfer connection in accordance with the multipath extension if the other device is capable of handling the multipath extension. Otherwise, the intermediate device establishes the data transfer connection as a concatenation of data transfer connection portions.
