Methods, systems, and apparatus, including medium-encoded computer program products, for generating internal structures usable in additive manufacturing include, in at least one aspect, obtaining a three dimensional (3D) model of a 3D object to be manufactured by a 3D extrusion printer; defining an infill structure for the 3D model, wherein defining the infill structure comprises defining an internal hull separated from an external hull by a separation distance, wherein the external hull corresponds to the 3D model, and defining walls between the external hull and the internal hull to form cells between the external hull and the internal hull; and providing the 3D model and the infill structure for the 3D model to generate tool path data for the 3D extrusion printer to build the 3D object in accordance with the 3D model and the infill structure for the 3D model.

Systems and methods of cellular-hull infill structure generation for additive manufacturing

Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for working with three-dimensional object models for printing. One of the methods includes determining a plurality of infill structures in a slice of an object; and determining a path for the tool-head to create the plurality of infill structures including: determining a first portion of the path for deposition of a first infill structure during a first time period; determining a second portion of the path for deposition of one or more second infill structures that are not adjacent to the first infill structure during a second time period; and determining a third portion of the path for deposition of a third infill structure that is adjacent to the first infill structure, wherein the second time period is determined to allow the first infill structure to cool before deposition of the third infill structure.

Three-dimensional printing

Methods, systems, and computer programs for multi-tool additive manufacturing include a method including: slicing a received model into a series of layers; determining one or more separation starting points, each being a location of two adjoining portions of the model that are to be manufactured by respective additive manufacturing robots; and determining an offset for each of the one or more separation starting points in each layer of the series of layers based on a threshold acceptable print time, each offset in a layer determining a seam location in the layer that is different from a seam location in at least one adjacent layer in the series of layers, and seam offsets determined for the series of layers increase an estimated print time, for manufacturing of the series of layers by the two or more additive manufacturing robots, to no more than the threshold acceptable print time.

Multi-tool additive manufacturing system with seam locations determined by print time

Methods, systems, and apparatus, including medium-encoded computer program products, for synchronizing the manufacture of objects using two or more separate tools include, in at least one aspect, determining tasks to be performed in a shared build volume to manufacture a 3D object, assigning the tasks to respective queues, ordering the tasks within each queue of assigned tasks based on a spatial dimension extent, generating wait times within the queues in accordance with timing dependencies, identifying which of the queues of assigned tasks takes a most amount of time in accordance with temporal dimension extents and the wait times, creating at least one variant of the queues of assigned tasks, repeating the ordering, the adding, and the identifying to reduce a total time of manufacturing, and providing a finalized version of the queues of assigned tasks for conducting synchronized activities of manufacturing in the shared build volume.

Multi-tool scheduling for cooperative manufacturing

Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for a multi-tool additive manufacturing system that executes in a three-dimensional build volume. In one aspect, a system includes a build platform; a support; a first robot coupled with the support and configured to operate in a build volume defined by the build platform, wherein the first robot includes a first additive manufacturing tool; a second robot coupled with the support and configured to operate in the build volume, wherein the second robot includes a second additive manufacturing tool; wherein the first robot and the second robot are programmed to coordinate simultaneous application; and wherein a first tool path of the first additive manufacturing tool in the first region abuts or overlaps with a second tool path of the second additive manufacturing tool in the second region so as to form a bond.

Coordinated multi-tool additive manufacturing method

Methods, systems, and apparatus, including medium-encoded computer program products, for reducing or eliminating curl and wrap in additive manufacturing include, in at least one aspect, obtaining a three dimensional (3D) model of a 3D object to be additively manufactured using a thermoplastic material delivery apparatus; generating a variable width brim for at least a first layer of the 3D model, wherein a width of the brim varies from a maximum value to a minimum value at different locations adjacent at least the first layer of the 3D model, and the generating comprises varying the width of the brim in accordance with an amount of convexity of the 3D model in regions corresponding to the different locations; and outputting the variable width brim for use in preventing warping during the additive manufacturing of the object from the 3D model using the thermoplastic material delivery apparatus.

Systems and methods of reducing curl and wrap in additive manufacturing

Methods and systems, including medium-encoded computer program products, for generating internal structures usable in additive manufacturing include: obtaining a three-dimensional (3D) model of an object to be created by a 3D printer; determining a first slice of the 3D model; and generating first slice data that represents a portion of an internal structure in the first slice of the 3D model of the object, the slice data being usable for fabricating the first slice of the object during a 3D printing process, wherein the portion of the internal structure (i) includes cell structures corresponding to a respective point of a plurality of points with corresponding locations within the interior region, wherein each of the cell structures include an empty space inside the cell structure and (ii) includes a determined quantity of the cell structures based on an analysis of the 3D model.
