A sealing assembly for a shaft includes: a first sealing component; a first spring energizer associated with said first sealing component; an annular support member configured for supporting said first sealing component; a second sealing component; a second spring energizer associated with said second sealing component, said first and second sealing components each having a pair of seal lips, said pairs of seal lips facing each other, said first and second spring energizers each configured for energizing respectively said first and second sealing components, each said spring energizer being respectively between one said pair of seal lips, said annular support member being disposed about the shaft and positioned between said first and second sealing components and said first and second spring energizers, said annular support member including two outwardly facing protuberances each of which interfits with a respective said pair of seal lips.

Seal assembly

A sealing assembly for a shaft includes a sealing component, a first ring, a second ring, and at least one energizer. The first ring is annularly disposed about the shaft, the first ring having at least one first protuberance interfittable with the sealing component. The second ring is annularly disposed about the shaft in facing opposition to the first ring, the second ring having at least one second protuberance interfittable with the sealing component. The at least one energizer energizes the seal component, the at least one energizer being adjacent the at least one first protuberance or the at least one second protuberance.

A base end dispensing container, especially suitable for dispensing viscous flowable liquid consumable products is disclosed. The container includes an elongated, squeezable container having an inner chamber for holding the viscous flowable liquid consumable products, a base end dispensing valve, a top end valve operating mechanism and an attached support structure for supporting the container in an upright position a distance from a surface upon which the container is placed. The base end dispensing valve includes a sloping container floor terminating at a substantially flat section, upon which a rotationally operable valve gate rests. The substantially flat floor section of the container includes at least one dispensing opening intermediate the interior chamber of the container and the outside of the container. The valve gate is selectively operated between an open and shut position by the top end valve operating mechanism via a valve drive shaft which connects the valve operating mechanism with the rotationally operable valve gate.

A system is disclosed for sequentially disconnecting multiple phases of a first power source (12) from an electrical load (14) requiring a minimum of interruption and connecting a second power source (28) to the electrical load. A first embodiment of the invention disconnects immediately the phase in which a trip condition requiring disconnection of the first source power is detected and disconnects phases of a first power source (12) in which a trip condition is not detected upon the detection of zero current flow in those phases. In a second embodiment of the invention, each of the phases of the first power source (12) is disconnected immediately from the electrical load (14) upon the detection of a trip condition in any one of the phases requiring disconnection of the first power source. In both embodiments of the invention, the phases of the second backup power source (28) are connected upon the detection of the occurrence of zero voltage points in the respective phases. One of the features present in this system is an inhibiting signal which is created when the second backup power source, not on line, goes bad which prohibits a disconnection of the first power supply from the electrical load.

Power controller

A voltage fault detector (10) for producing a trip signal causing switching from a first AC voltage source (12) to a second AC voltage source (14) is disclosed. A plurality of comparators (18,20,22) monitor a signal which is proportional to the magnitude of the voltage of a first AC voltage source (12) to determine if sample values fall within predetermined ranges. A counter (30) counts the number of samples falling outside the predetermined range to generate the trip signal when the count reaches a predetermined limit. The counter (30) is augmented for each sample which is outside the predetermined range and decremented for each sample which is within the predetermined range. A plurality of latches (24,26,28) are respectively coupled to a different one of the comparators for applying the output level signal from one of the comparators to the counter at predetermined times under the control of clock signal pulse trains generated by a combinational logic circuit (32) which are respectively applied to a different one of the plurality of latches. The voltage fault detector (10) may be used to monitor the condition of one or more phases of a backup voltage source.

Voltage fault detector

An overcurrent protection system (10) for a power supply is disclosed. The system monitors the instantaneous flow of current between a power supply (12) and an electrical load (16) to detect when the flow of current exceeds a maximum rated amount. A counter (30) is used for counting the number of times that samples of the flow of current exceed the maximum rated amount synchronous with zero current crossing to generate a trip signal when a predetermined count is reached which disconnects the power supply (12) from the load. The counter (30) is decremented each time a predetermined time interval elapses in which the flow of current above the maximum rate is not detected as measured from a point of zero current flow between the power supply (12) and the electrical load (14). The invention may be used for both AC and DC power supplies.

Current fault protection system

A power supply system for processing current and voltage faults is disclosed. Each phase of a first power source (12) and each phase of a second power source (28) has a pair of switches (60, 64) for controlling the conduction of current from the phase of the power source to a phase load (29). In each of the phases of the first power source (12), a first switch (60) is controlled by a first control signal which has a high level when a voltage fault or current fault condition does not exist. When either a voltage fault or a current fault condition exists, the first switch (60) is turned off. The second switch (64) is turned on by a second control signal during a determination of whether a current fault exists. Furthermore, a logic network causes the first control signal to assume the second level in response to any one of an RMS over/under voltage fault, an instantaneous overcurrent fault, an I.sup.2 t fault, or an instantaneous voltage fault occurring in the phase to which the switches are connected or in any one of the other phases in the first power source. Upon the detection of a voltage fault condition, the first power source (12) is disconnected from the load and a second power source is connected to the load. All of the phases of the first power source are disconnected either immediately in response to the detection of a fault in any one of the phases or, alternatively, the phase with the fault is immediately disconnected and the remaining phases without a fault are disconnected at the zero current crossing points of the AC signal of the phases. The phases of the second source are connected at a point when the voltage of the phase is zero.

Phase controller for processing current and voltage faults

An I.sup.2 t monitoring circuit utilizes a multiplier to provide a signal that is representative of the squared value of a monitored current. The squared signal minus a DC level is provided as an input to a voltage-to-frequency converter and the output of the voltage-to-frequency converter is provided as an input to a down counter. The down counter is configured to decrement a stored value in response to the frequency of pulses received from the voltage-to-frequency converter and provide a signal in response to the magnitude of the stored value being decremented to a first predetermined magnitude. Periodically, the magnitude of the stored value in the down counter is refreshed to a second predetermined magnitude. When a signal is received from the down counter to indicate that the magnitude of the stored value has been decremented to the first predetermined magnitude, the signal is latched and a continuing signal is provided to indicate that a trip should occur. The trip signal is provided so that external circuitry can respond by either disconnecting the load from the monitored current or taking steps to reduce the magnitude of the monitored current.
