The Internet can be configured to provide communications to a large number of Internet-of-Things (IoT) devices. Devices can be designed to address the need for network layers, from central servers, through gateways, down to edge devices, to grow unhindered, to discover and make accessible connected resources, and to support the ability to hide and compartmentalize connected resources. Network protocols can be part of the fabric supporting human accessible services that operate regardless of location, time, or space. Innovations can include service delivery and associated infrastructure, such as hardware and software. Services may be provided in accordance with specified Quality of Service (QoS) terms. The use of IoT devices and networks can be included in a heterogeneous network of connectivity including wired and wireless technologies.

Internet of things

A gas mixing apparatus for a laser cutter and a laser cutter including that apparatus. The mixing apparatus includes a housing defining a chamber, first and second inlet ports opening into the chamber at an obtuse angle to each other, and an outlet port. A hollow lance mounted in the first inlet port conducts a first gas into the chamber. In some embodiments, a gas sensor is in fluid communication with the chamber; and an adjustable pressure regulator is responsive to the gas sensor and is in fluid communication with the first inlet port to control the first gas as it mixes with a second gas flowing into the chamber through the second inlet port to maintain a predetermined ratio of the first gas to the second gas and thereby provide an assist gas. In some applications, a laser cutting head is in fluid communication with the output port to receive the assist gas.

Methods, apparatus, and articles of manufacture for decentralized data storage and processing for IoT devices are disclosed. An example apparatus includes memory; and a processor to cause storage of a contract in an off-chain datastore; generate a hash value of the contract; cause storage of the hash value on a blockchain to be accessible to multiple nodes in an IoT network; and cause storage of a transaction on the blockchain, the transaction corresponding to an objective of the contract based on data sensed by an IoT device in the IoT network.

A communications device, such as an Internet-of-Things device, includes an entity resource to originate or consume data, and core resources to facilitate stateless messaging with a remote device, with the messaging being associated with the entity resource. Transaction resources are provided to manage a transaction with the remote device. The transaction includes a sequence of messages associated with the entity resource. The transaction resources include a transaction state machine to represent a current intra-transactional ephemeral state from among a plurality of intra-transactional ephemeral states representing progression of the transaction, a commit handler to institute a persistent state change related to the entity resource in response to a successful completion of the transaction, and a transaction communicator to conduct intra-transaction communications via the core resources directed to corresponding transactional resources of the remote device.

Transaction resources for stateless message protocol

Techniques for implementing a publish-subscribe messaging system are disclosed. An example device generates a topic string comprising a string of characters that represent a subscription to a requested publication. A subscription filter is computed based on the topic string. The device is configured to receive a publication, which includes a data payload and a publication filter. The device performs a bitwise comparison of the subscription filter and the publication filter to determine whether the publication is a destination match for the subscription. If the publication is a destination match for the subscription, the device consumes the data payload of the publication.

Neworking internet of things (IoT) devices

The disclosure relates to conveying state changes from an advertising node to one or more discovering nodes, wherein the advertising node may convey the state changes using small efficient low-level broadcast or multicast advertisements to trigger delivering larger structured data in a manner that may be conceptually similar to broadcasting or multicasting but actually delivered using point-to-point or other delivery mechanisms that may be more efficient and reliable. In particular, the advertising node may the convey state changes using broadcast messaging and a store-and-forward cache in a manner that removes bandwidth and/or size constraints that networks impose on multicast/broadcast datagrams while preserving benefits associated therewith.

Disclosed are methods and systems for authenticating a key exchange between a first peer device and a second peer device. In an aspect, the first peer device sends federated login credentials of a user and a first identifier to a first federated login provider, receives a first authentication response from the first federated login provider, receives a second authentication response from the second peer device, authenticates the second authentication response with a second federated login provider, sends the first authentication response to the second peer device, receives an acknowledgment from the second peer device indicating that the second peer device has authenticated the first authentication response with the federated login provider, sends an acknowledgment to the second peer device indicating that the first peer device has authenticated the second authentication response, and authenticates the key exchange based on the acknowledgment from the second peer device.

Using end-user federated login to detect a breach in a key exchange encrypted channel

Various embodiments provide systems and methods for connecting wireless-enabled products to wireless networks. Customer network credentials may be stored in a server along with a customer identifier ('customer ID') during one-time registration. When a wireless-enabled product is purchased, a product identifier ('product ID') and the customer's ID are forwarded to the server, which correlates the two identifiers, linking the purchased product to the customer. When the wireless-enabled product is powered on, the product accesses the server via a public network connection, and sends the product ID and a security token to the server. The server uses the product ID and the security token to authenticate the product. Once authenticated, the server uses the correlated customer ID to look up the network credentials for the customer's private network, and provides the network credentials to the wireless-enabled product. The wireless-enabled product then uses the downloaded credentials to access the customer's private network.

Method and system for onboarding wireless-enabled products in a network

The disclosure relates to using a control service to control external access to APIs of IoT devices on a private network. An external application can request access to an API, and in response, the control service can monitor broadcasts from the IoT devices indicating what APIs they have available. If a match exists, the control service can request user authorization to allow the requested access. The user can grant or deny the requested access, and place limitations on the authorized access. The control service uses this information to open a connection between the requesting application and the IoT device having the requested API, and via this connection, the requesting application can access and control the device running the requested API.
