The present system is directed in various embodiments to devices, systems and methods for detection, evaluation and/or monitoring olfactory dysfunction by measuring and determining the patient's olfactory detection threshold for the left and the right nostril. In some cases, the present invention relates to devices, systems and methods for detecting an asymmetric differential in a patient's relative olfactory detection and/or identification threshold (left vs right nostril) which, when present, may be used as a device to detect, diagnose and/or monitor olfactory deterioration resulting from Alzheimer's disease, and/or the efficacy of treatment regimens therefor over time. Alternatively, general olfactory dysfunction may be evaluated and/or monitored without regard to the individual nostril's performance.

A method of repurposing dual-paned insulated glass window units (IGUs) that would otherwise be put to waste into thermal solar panels capable of generating hot water for a residence or other structure. The method includes the steps of removing an existing IGU, disassembling and cleaning the IGU, and reassembling the IGU with a new silicon seal and fluid channels for connection to a looped solar heating system. The space between the panes may be filled with a liquid to be heated by solar radiation, or alternatively by a conduit which transports the liquid through the panel.

A drywall tape and texture system for pumping fluid material from a container to a work surface includes a pump housing, a compressed air supply, a plurality of air release mechanisms, and an inflatable bladder mounted within the pump housing and held between upper and lower valves for controlling the flow of the material. The pump housing may be fully or partially immersed into a container filled with fluid material. An automatic pneumatic pressure relief valve automatically cycles open and closed whenever a control line is held closed by an operator. When the normally closed automatic air release mechanism is closed, the control line may also be closed by the operator, causing the bladder to inflate and pump fluid out of the pump housing. When the control line to the atmosphere is opened, the bladder deflates and a partial vacuum is created, thus refilling the pump through the lower valve.

A wallpaper template can be used to cut wallpaper pieces in order to cover a closure such as a door, shutter or blind that may have a plurality of segments and frame elements. The wallpaper template has a plurality of indicia or apertures that are placed on a separate sheet or on a container for the closure. The indicia and apertures are arranged to define: (a) a segment pattern for outlining each of the segments; and (b) a closure pattern for outlining the closure. Thus, wallpaper can be cut by following the indicia or apertures.

A drywall taping and texture system for pumping drywall mastic material from a container filled with the drywall mastic material to a work surface includes a pump housing, an air compressor, a tool for applying the drywall mastic material to the work surface, material and control lines, an inflatable bladder, an air release mechanism, and an airway. The pump housing is immersed in the container filled with the drywall mastic material, and the air compressor is connected to the pump housing. The material and control lines are connected between the pump housing and the tool such that there is material and air flow communication, respectively, therebetween. The bladder is mounted within the pump housing between upper and lower valves for controlling the flow of the drywall mastic material. The airway connects the air compressor, the control line, the bladder, and the air release mechanism, such that there is air flow communication therebetween. When the air release mechanism closes, the bladder inflates such that drywall mastic material in the pump housing is pumped through the upper valve, the material line, and the tool to the work surface. When the air release mechanism opens, the bladder deflates such that a partial vacuum is created within the pump and drywall mastic material in the container is pumped through the lower valve into the pump housing.

An inexpensive pneumatically-operated apparatus is disclosed for spraying a broad range of viscous materials that atomizes the sprayable material without using propellant gases, and can be filled with bulk texture or other fluid coatings. A container removably locks onto the bottom of a sealing disk, consisting of a dip tube, an elbow, an air jet member, an equalization port, and an equalization tube. A cap is selectively united with the sealing disk and the container. The user fills the container with the sprayable material, attaches it to the sealing disk and cap, and connects to an external air supply device. A spray nozzle is used to adjust the type of spray, and the user holds up the apparatus as one would hold an aerosol spray can. If the user covers the control orifice, trapping the air inside, air pressure builds inside the container and the apparatus atomizes and sprays the sprayable material until the supply is consumed or until the user removes the covering over the control orifice to stop spraying.

A portable drywall texture sprayer includes a generally cylindrical tank filled with fluid drywall material, a tool connected to the tank through a set of hoses or lines, and an air supply connected to the tank. The set of hoses or lines includes a material line and a control line. The material line is connected between the tank and the tool such that there is material flow communication therebetween. The control line is connected between the tank and the tool such that there is air flow communication therebetween. An air tube is mounted within the tank and connected to the control line such that there is air flow communication therebetween. An air duct connects the air tube and the air supply such that there is air flow communication therebetween. The sprayer also includes a control orifice on the tool for controlling the air pressure within the tank. When the control orifice is covered, the air pressure within the tank increases, air is forced through the control line and the tool, and the fluid drywall material is urged through the material line and the tool, resulting in the atomization and spraying of the fluid drywall material onto the work surface. To stop the spraying of the fluid drywall material, the control orifice is uncovered. The sprayer also includes multiple mechanisms for relieving the air pressure within the tank.

A low cost stereo dispensing container (e.g. a disposable caulking cartridge) from which two part fluid products may be simultaneously dispensed in predetermined proportions relative to one another. A first material (e.g. a catalyst) is stored within a flexible blister. The blister may be adhesively affixed to a side of the container. In the alternative, the blister may be extruded or injection molded along a side of the container during manufacture. The second material (e.g. a resin) is stored within a holding chamber formed in the container alongside the blister. A plunger is moved through the container to ride over and compress the blister and thereby cause the first material to be expulsed therefrom into a spout of the container. At the same time, the volume of the holding chamber is reduced to thereby cause the second material to be simultaneously expulsed therefrom into the spout.

Gypsum wallboard taping system

A labor saving taping system for use during the installation of gypsum wallboard, whereby the seam between a pair of adjacent drywall panels can be easily and reliably taped with paper drywall tape that has been pre-coated with wet adhesive mud. This system comprises the detachable interconnection of a frame and a mud reservoir. The drywall tape is fed from a supply roll and threaded along the frame for total emersion in the reservoir so as to receive a coating of mud on both sides thereof. The system also includes a taping tool comprising a hollow housing and a shaft around which the mud-coated drywall tape can be wound for storage and later use.

A potentially disposable, low cost spray tip to be connected to a conventional hollow caulking tube which is loaded with a supply of relatively thick, viscous material, with or without solid particulate matter in suspension, that is to be controllably sprayed onto a desired surface (e.g. drywall). The spray tip includes a material sleeve, which is fixedly attached to the spout of the caulking tube to channel material therefrom, and an air stem, which is attached to an air source to channel a supply of air under pressure. In operation, the relatively thick, viscous material is moved into the air stream, and a mixture of air and material is uniformly and continuously sprayed through an exit orifice in the spray tip to efficiently spray the surface.
